$1 from every Newk’s Q sandwich purchased during week of Nov. 17 goes toward fulfilling wishes of local Make-A-Wish children
The grills at Birmingham’s Newk’s Eatery restaurants will be sizzling early in the morning on Monday, Nov. 17, for “Q for a Cause,” a week-long celebration of the new Inverness location’s grand opening. The four restaurants will be serving up a record number of Newk’s Q sandwiches – the most popular item on the Newk’s menu – to raise support for Alabama’s Make-A-Wish children. One dollar from every Newk’s Q purchased at Birmingham area restaurants from Nov. 17 through 23 will be used to fulfill Alabama wishes.
“It’s incredible to see businesses right here in Birmingham wanting to be involved with the Make-A-Wish mission,” Make-A-Wish Alabama President and CEO, Pam Jones, said. “Newk’s not only has a variety of delicious items on its menu, its employees also have a warm heart that beats for the children in our state who are, right now, waiting for their wish to come true. This is a phenomenal partnership that we know will do great things for our wish families.”
The beloved Newk’s Q sandwich is at the forefront of the gourmet-inspired dishes and flavorful food experiences that have made Newk’s Eatery one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in the nation. The Newk’s Q consists of layers of tender, freshly grilled chicken, Applewood smoked bacon and Swiss cheese served on a soft French baguette and topped with Newk’s signature white barbecue sauce. One of Newk’s Eatery co-founder and CEO Chris Newcomb’s closely-guarded family recipes, the signature sauce is also available for purchase in-house by the bottle.
“Good food in service of a good cause is at the heart of Newk’s Q for Cause grand opening event. We will be up early all week freshly grilling chicken for the hundreds of Newk’s Qs we will be serving up daily in order to bring the wishes of many local children to life,” said Newk’s franchisee Todd Jackson. “We look forward to engaging a new community of diners around Newk’s tables to enjoy our handcrafted meals while supporting Make-A-Wish.”
Jackson, his wife Sonya and a team of partners built their first Newk’s location in downtown Birmingham in 2007. Along with two additional Birmingham stores and a Newk’s Grab ‘n Go Eatery at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Jackson co-owns the downtown location with father-in-law Dennis Hey, brother-in-law Chris Hey and Tom Crowson. The new Inverness restaurant will be the group’s fifth Birmingham location with a sixth set to open in Hoover by the year’s end.
At Newk’s, there is something for everyone to enjoy on the restaurant’s diverse menu of fresh tossed salads, California-style pizzas, hot toasted sandwiches and made-from-scratch soups and desserts. Newk’s signature menu items are meticulously handcrafted with rigorously selected fresh ingredients in an open kitchen and served tableside in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
