Brixx Wood Fired Pizza Expands Into AlabamaThe oven at Brixx Wood Fired Pizza is stoked up to 600 degrees and open for business today in the Patton Creek shopping center. Owners Russell Pate, Courtney Mason and Justin Allgood are ready to introduce the Birmingham area to its favorite new destination for wood fired pizza … and late night snacks. Brixx will be open until 1 a.m. six nights a week. This is the first Brixx location in the state of Alabama and the 16th Brixx franchise.

Brixx specializes in creating pizzas topped with a wide array of fresh ingredients and cooked in a wood burning oven to infuse them with the natural flavors of the wood. The menu also features salads, pastas and sandwiches complemented by 24 craft beers on tap, 14 wines by the glass and an array of cocktails. The pizza at Brixx ranges from a traditional Margherita Pizza with fresh basil and tomatoes to those using pimento cheese, house made pesto or Thai peanut sauce as bases.

The signature items on the Brixx menu – including the traditional & whole wheat dough, fresh mozzarella, hummus, meatballs and focaccia — are made in house.

“We have a passion for making the foundation of our menu from scratch every morning,” says Pate, managing partner of Rollin’ Dough Hoover, LLC, the franchise ownership group behind Brixx in Hoover.

“Our guests, especially parents, want to know their food is being made with fresh, quality ingredients. We’re happy to tell them all about it. In fact, with our open kitchen, they can watch us at work.”

Brixx appeals to a wide array of palates and dietary needs, offering vegetarian and vegan items. In fact, the traditional and whole wheat doughs at Brixx are made with turbinado sugar and are 100 percent vegan. Vegan cheese is available at no extra cost. The restaurant also carries gluten-free dough and gluten-free bottled beer.

“Everyone deserves a night out for pizza and beer or a glass of wine, regardless of their dietary needs,” said Allgood. “We take pride that if a table comes in with vegan or gluten-free guests, they leave just as happy as everyone else.”

Brixx offers seating for 110 inside and 60 more on an outdoor patio. It employs a staff of just under 50. The restaurant will be open 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday, offering daily drink and food specials. The street address is 181 Main Street in Hoover in the Patton Creek Shopping Center.
