Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. is pleased to announce the newest member of the team, Nico Murillo. Originally from Central Texas, Murillo has 15 years’ experience as a chef and 8 years in R&D. She got her chef training at the Art Institute of Dallas, and has worked in prestigious kitchens such as Four Seasons Hotel, The Master’s in Augusta, Georgia, and was an instructor of Culinary Courses at the Art Institute.

She later moved into savory cooking, when she was recruited into the R&D department at PepsiCo. “The analytical thinking and problem solving from my pastry background set the stage for my career in R&D,” Murillo says. She recently obtained the Certified Research Chef credential from Research Chefs’ Association, a prestigious program in which chefs must meet strict criterion in education, Food Science, and R&D experience. She also won the gold medal for the Culinology cook-off at the annual Research Chefs’ Association convention, among other awards.
