Fast-Food CEOs Challenged By Troubled Times

The CEOs of major fast food brands are facing a surprising amount of tension and stress right now. Their current woes began with the recession and loss of interest from customers who want higher quality for the same low prices. Now striking employees, product sourcing disruptions, and increased competition make the world even harder on these company leaders. Experts like McDonald’s Don Thompson are having to admit their struggling to keep up sales while facing meat scandals and a lack of excitement as they release new products. Only time will tell how these captains guide their brands out of the doldrums.

Fast-casual chains are the main cause of pressure on fast food chains. Brands like Panera Bread and Chipotle continue to drain interest away from the biggest names in fast food.  Healthy food options and stronger brand choices are helping the fast-casuals pull ahead. Of course, the fast food chains haven’t thrown in the towel yet. Most of the big brands keep innovating and changing their menus and interiors to compete. However, few of these improvements have done much to improve the bottom lines of some.
