Head Pitmaster Doug Pickering is the mastermind behind the delicious menu, which features Texas staples such as brisket, ribs, house-made sausage, honey-brined smoked turkey breast and pork shoulder. The southern-influenced sides include smoked BBQ beans, smoked green beans, BBQ mac & cheese, jalapeño bacon cole slaw and southwestern potato salad.

“With such a dynamic space that incorporates live music and fun games in the backyard, a Ferris wheel and more, I’m sure we’ll draw North Texans as well as visitors to our restaurant. But once people step inside, they’ll realize this is a serious BBQ destination serving up what we believe will compete for the best BBQ in the state,” said Pickering, owner of the award-winning DWP BBQ brand. “I use post oak wood and an offset wood-fired rotisserie smoker to ensure a taste of Texas in every bite. As a Dallas native and proud SMU grad, I believe my city deserves the very best BBQ anywhere, and we aim to serve it here at Ferris Wheelers.”

Ferris Wheelers is where locals and visitors alike can grab some unforgettable BBQ while enjoying Texas-inspired cocktails, craft brews and live music performed by local and national artists outside on the 7,000-square-foot backyard patio. In between sets, take a ride on the Ferris wheel or challenge a friend to a game of Jenga, bags, washers, hook & ring, oversized Kerplunk, checkers or chess.

A special pre-opening event featuring a live performance by country music group Midland will be held on Friday, Sept. 22. Presented by 96.3 KSCS, the free 30-minute show will celebrate the release of the band’s debut album, On The Rocks. Doors open at 4 p.m. and Midland will take the stage at 5 p.m. Drinks will be available during this sneak-peek event, but you’ll have to wait till Monday for your BBQ fix.

The restaurant officially opens for lunch and dinner on Monday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. The kitchen will close at 10 p.m. daily. Backyard hours begin at 4 p.m. and won’t end until the party is over.
