250,000 restaurant chains face approaching deadline for FDA menu labeling compliance
Healthy Dining, the leading provider of nutrition-related services and technologies to the restaurant industry and the creator of HealthyDiningFinder.com, is offering one-on-one complimentary nutrition consultations during the 2015 National Restaurant Association (NRA) Marketing Executives Group Conference, October 28-29 at the Westin Gaslamp Hotel, San Diego, CA. Nicole Ring, R.D., Vice President of Nutrition Strategy and Lauren Rezende, M.P.H., R.D., Director of Nutrition, Quality Assurance will be available to answer menu labeling and other nutrition-related questions during the MEG conference.
December 2016 marks the first time that 250,000+ restaurant chains (with 20+ U.S. locations) will be required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to print calories on menus and have accurate nutrition information onsite for guests. The FDA rules require restaurants to maintain records of accuracy and ensure that training and preparation protocols are in place.
“Getting ready for menu labeling will take considerable time and resources, but it can be a very positive investment for the future,” said Anita Jones-Mueller, MPH, president and founder of Healthy Dining. “It’s exciting to see restaurants embracing this menu labeling era and its potential as a positive for guests and profits. The industry is starting to set the healthy trends that can last a lifetime and make a difference for our children and future generations.”
