Hot’s Kitchen To Host A “Farewell Foie Gras” Blowout June 29th & 30th

Hot’s Kitchen, a local favorite in Hermosa Beach, will host a “Farewell Foie Gras” weekend on Friday, June 29th, and Saturday, June 30th, in response to the controversial ban going into effect on July 1st that will make the sale of foie gras illegal in the state of California.

The weekend before this ban takes effect, Hot’s Kitchen and Executive Chef Sean Chaney hope to provide foie gras enthusiasts with one last chance to indulge their hearts desire for this delicacy by adding dozens of specialty foie gras dishes to their eclectic menu. Guests can choose from plates such as Chef Chaney’s take on the Canadian specialty “Poutine” (duck fat fries with foie gras gravy, duck confit, morels, and 2 year old Hooks cheddar), “seared foie gras & tater tots with a beer cheese sauce and Chapala”, and “seared foie gras & Morello cherries”.

Chef Sean Chaney has incredibly active in support of the C.H.E.F.S. Coalition (Coalition for Humane and Ethical Farming Standards), whose mission is to fight for ethical farming standards and the increase in awareness of the production of humanely farmed foie gras. For the past three months, Hot’s Kitchen has donated $1 for every foie gras burger sold to C.H.E.F.S.

Chef Chaney says of the ban, “We at Hot’s are foie gras fanatics and hate to see it go. I will continue to support the C.H.E.F.S. Coalition in the fight for a more humane production in the hopes that one-day all chefs will be free to cook with this incredible delicacy again. Until the ban takes place on July 1st I’m planning on eating and cooking as much foie as humanly possible and want to share the joy with my fellow foie-lovers!”

Hot’s Kitchen was founded in 2011 by childhood friends Sean Chaney and Michael Lindenlaub. After nearly fifteen years in the restaurant business and two successful ventures, the duo saw an opportunity to bring a unique community-focused dining experience with a killer menu to the South Bay. Hot’s Kitchen is located just blocks south of the Hermosa Beach pier at 844 Hermosa Avenue, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254 and is open Monday – Sunday, 11am-10pm. For more information visit
