First McAlister’s Franchisee to Open Two Locations in One Day
McAlister’s Deli, a leading fast casual restaurant, has opened two new locations in Texas with franchisee Southwest Deli. McAlister’s in North Abilene is located at 849 N Judge Ely Blvd., and is Southwest Deli’s second restaurant in Abilene. The Andrews location opened at 1200 N. Main Street. Southwest Deli is the first McAlister’s franchisee to open two locations in a single day.
“Our first Abilene restaurant, which opened in September of last year, has been such a success that we decided it was the right time to expand our presence in the community. In addition, we look forward to introducing McAlister’s delicious food and genuine hospitality to local residents in Andrews,” said Larry Lee, owner of Southwest Deli. “Additionally, we are thrilled to be the first McAlister’s franchisee to open two restaurants in one day and would like to thank the cities of Abilene and Andrews for working so closely with us to make this a reality.”
To celebrate the openings and introduce McAlister’s to the local communities, both restaurants will donate all tips during the first month of operation to local charities. Funds raised at the North Abilene restaurant will be donated to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center, while tips at the Andrews location will go to the Permian Basin Rehab Center in Odessa, Texas.

Southwest Deli currently operates 14 restaurants in Texas and New Mexico, these openings will bring their total to 16. In addition, they recently signed a 24-unit agreement for four states including continued growth in Texas and New Mexico as well as new territories in Utah and Idaho. They will open a restaurant in Carlsbad, NM in May and will open four additional locations later this year.
