Chula Vista’s second bakery café is latest to open as part of 18-store agreement with Rouse Properties; official grand opening set for Saturday
It’s a childhood staple that’s as American as apple pie, and its mouthwatering aroma has an uncanny way of triggering memories instilled by generations of mothers and grandmothers who know what it means to bake with love.
Fortunately, children of all ages can now relive their warm memories of chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven at the Chula Vista Center, thanks to the arrival of a new Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip. The popular bakery café chain will host its official grand opening on Saturday, May 9.
The celebration will begin at 12 noon with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the freestanding, outdoor café. Several local dignitaries are expected to attend – including National City Mayor Ron Morrison; members of the San Diego, National City and Chula Vista Chambers of Commerce; and Ziad Dalal, President & CEO of Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip.
Following the ribbon cutting, attendees will be serenaded by 30 ukulele-playing students from Ocean View Elementary School. Guests will also be treated to free samples of several delicious menu items, including Panini sandwiches, wraps, crepes, salads and, of course, freshly baked cookies and danish. Prizes will be awarded and other fun activities are planned for the daylong celebration.
Franchisee Daisy Mirador said she has been looking forward to this grand opening for a long time. She also owns another successful café in Chula Vista, at the Otay Ranch Town Center, and she is confident her newest café will quickly build a reputation for serving up smiles to bustling shoppers with its freshly baked treats, specialty coffees and savory snack offerings.
“When people notice our café for the first time, they are instantly drawn in. After all, it’s pretty hard to resist a warm Nestlé Toll House cookie and a hot cup of premium coffee,” said Mirador. “I invite everyone from around the area to bring their family and friends on Saturday and join us for our grand opening festivities. The premium dessert destination concept is built around the world’s most powerful food brand – Nestlé. Located at 555 Broadway, the Chula Vista Center café is the 12th café in California and the 148th Nestlé Toll House Café system-wide.
