New York Bagel Continues its Southeast Expansion

Restaurant Chain Opens First Location in Louisiana

Opening day on June 22, 2013 was a roaring success in the small town of Houma, LA. “It seemed the whole parish came out to try our food.” – Owners Sonya Ohlmeyer and Tracey Hebert. They expected the soft opening to go well, but this far exceeded their expectations. The lines for lunch were to the door. There were some long wait times for food, but customers understood that it was the first day and there would be some growing pains. As one customer wrote on the NY Bagel Houma Facebook page, it was “Worth the wait!”

It wasn’t just a great opening day. It ended up being a great opening week for them as the crowds continued to gather daily and have continued since. The folks in Houma just can’t seem to get enough of New York Bagel Café & Deli.

The successful opening of its Houma, LA location has opened many doors for NY Bagel Café. “The reception the brand has received here has been astounding. We are receiving multiple calls a day from individuals wanting to purchase a franchise.” – Joe Smith, CEO NY Bagel Enterprises.

With a reception like this, could New Orleans be the next area to be developed? Keep an eye out for further southeast expansion in the near future.

New York Bagel Café & Deli is the brainchild of Joe Smith, an enterprising upstate New Yorker who saw the opportunities back in 1994 for making inroads in the franchise fast-food market. Take a proven commodity – everyone’s favorite “light” meal, the bagel – and then take it one step further. Offer the original New York bagel, and create a cornerstone for a bagel franchise … without the typical franchise bagel taste. Then structure the business for ease of investment and operation, and “spread the wealth” with other motivated self-starters.

You’ll find that New York Bagel Café & Deli runs rings around other bagel shops with a delicious array of complementary foods. Like popular Boar’s Head deli meats and cheeses, the smoothest flavored cream cheeses, succulent smoked salmon and richly brewed gourmet coffees. How about Panini sandwiches, popular wrap sandwiches, freshly prepared salads and fresh baked goods? We feature REAL NY Water Bagels and Bialys baked fresh every day.

Currently, there are 10 locations across the country and more under development. The concept is primed for development anywhere people love a great bagel. How about your hometown?

Single and multi-unit franchises are available across the country. Contact for more info.
