Growing Concepts of Multi Unit Operators
Concepts that have grown by at least 5% (if less than 50 units).

Miami, FL-based REYS PIZZA (founded 1985) has increased by 1 unit, from 9 to 10 (11% growth).  These fast casual pizzerias are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner hours, with a $4-$12+ per person price range.  Beer and wine are served and seating is for about 50.  All locations are in FL.

Massillion, OH-based YOUR PIZZA SHOP has increased by 1 unit, from 13 to 14 (8% growth).  This quick serve pizza concept is open for lunch and dinner, with a $4-$12+ per person price range.  One location has full bar service.  Catering, delivery and online ordering services are available.  Trading areas are FL and OH.

Gardena, CA-based SUSHI BOY has increased by 1 unit, from 11 to 12 (9% growth).  The restaurants are family/casual, open for lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is $8-$20+, serving beer and wine.  Units seat about 40.  Catering is available.  All locations are in CA.

SCOOTER’S COFFEEHOUSE of Omaha, NE (founded 1998) has increased by 25 units, from 81 to 106 (31% growth).  These are fast casual coffeehouses with seating for around 20.  Meal periods are breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $4-$12+.  Locations are franchised and are in CO, IA, KS, MO, NE, SD and TX.

SARPINO’S PIZZERIA of Saanichton, BC (founded 1972) has increased by 3 units, from 192 to 195 (2% growth).  These are family/casual pizza restaurants with seating for around 40.  Beer and wine are served.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $4-$12+.  Banquets are offered.  Locations are more than 90% franchised and are in BC, IA, IL, KS, MN, MO and TX.

OBSIDIAN GROUP INC of Mississauga, ON (founded 1996) has increased by 8 units for Coffee Culture, from 61 to 69 (13% growth) and by 2 units for Crabby Joe’s Tap & Grill from 39 to 41 (5% growth).  The third concept called Union Burger concept has 12 units.  Overall company growth is from 112 to 122 (9% company growth).  Most units are quick serve with seating for around 100.  Meal periods are breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $4-$12+.  Locations are more than 90% franchised and are in FL, MB, NS, NY, ON and PA.

Emerging and Re-emerging Concepts
Concepts with 20 units or less who grew by at least 2 units.

Dallas TX-based COWBOY CHICKEN WOOD FIRE ROTISSERIE (founded 1981) has increased by 2 units, from 7 to 9 (29% growth).  The restaurants are fast casual, open for lunch and dinner.  Per person price range is $4-$12+.  Units seat about 60 and offer catering, delivery and online ordering services.  About 50% of locations are franchised.  All stores are in TX.

SCHILLER’S LIQUOR BAR of New York, NY has increased by 2 units, from 9 to 11 (22% growth) adding new concepts – Minetta Tavern and Pulino’s Bar & Pizzeria.  Other company concepts are Balthazar (1), Balthazar Bakery (1), Lucky Strike (1), Morandi (1), Pastis (1), Pravda (1), and Schiller’s Liquor Bar (1).  These tend to be family/casual restaurants with full bar and seating for around 150.  Meal periods vary.  Per person check average is around $15-$50+.  All locations are in NY.

Minneapolis, MN-based BUFFALO WILD WINGS (founded 1982) has increased by 109 units, from 901 to 1010 (12% growth) and entered into RI.  This is a family/casual concept, serving American cuisine and specializing in chicken wings.  Per person check average is $8-$20+, open for lunch and dinner.  The restaurants have full bar service and seat around 200.  Catering is available.  About half the locations are franchised.  Trading areas are AB, AK, AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, ON, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, WV, and WY.  We last featured this concept on 2/5/13 (8% growth).
