Richardson, TX-based NESTLE TOLLHOUSE CAFE BY CHIP (founded 1998) has increased by 21 units, from 109 to 130 (19% growth) and entered into AK, LA, NS and ON .  This quick serve bakery/cafe concept is open for lunch and dinner hours, with a $4-$12+ per person price range.  Catering and online ordering are available.  Most locations are in malls.  Stores are franchised and trade in AK, AL, AZ, BC, CA, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, LA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NJ, NM, NS, NV, NY, OK, ON, PA, SC, TX, VA and the Middle East.

ROYAL PIZZA of Edmonton, AB (founded 1969) has increased by 1 unit, from 7 to 8 (14% growth).  These are family/casual restaurants with full bar and seating for around 150.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $8-$20+.  Locations are more than 80% franchised and are in AB.

Massachusetts-based TAKARA JAPANESE RESTAURANT has increased by 1 unit, from 3 to 4 (33% growth).  This family/casual Japanese concept is open for lunch and dinner, with a $10-$30+ per person check average.  Locations have full bar and average seating for about 50.  Catering is available.  All units are in MA.

Metairie, LA-based NEW ORLEANS HAMBURGER & SEAFOOD CO (founded 1984) has increased by 2 units, with the addition of a new concept called New Orleans Coffee & Beignet.  The company also operates the 10-unit New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood Co.  Overall company increase was from 10 to 12 (20% company growth).  New Orleans Hamburger & Seafood restaurants are fast casual, open for lunch and dinner, with a $10-$30+ per person check average.  Locations have full bar and average seating for about 80.  The coffee shops are fast casual, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a $4-$12+ per person price range.  Catering is available at all restaurants.  All locations are in LA.

DYLAN’S CANDY BAR of New York, NY (founded 2001) has increased by 2 units, from 4 to 6 (50% growth).  These are family/casual candy and ice cream stores with seating for around 50.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $8-$20.  Banquet services are available.  Locations are in CA, FL, IL and NY.

PAL’S SUDDEN SERVICE based in Kingsport, TN (founded 1956) has increased by 2 units, from 24 to 26 (8% growth).  These are quick serve burger restaurants open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $4-$12+.  All locations are in TN and VA.  We reported on this concept on 11/19/13 (4% growth).
