Growing Concepts
Concepts that have grown by at least 5% (if less than 50 units).

Miamisburg, OH-based RON’S PIZZA (founded 1964) has increased by 1 unit, from 6 to 7 (17% growth).  The restaurants are mostly quick serve, open for lunch and dinner, with a $6-$15+ per person price range.  One location has full bar and family/casual service.  The restaurants seat around 50 and offer delivery service.  Units are franchised and trade in OH.

New York, NY-based FIREMAN HOSPITALITY GROUP (founded 1974) has increased by 1 unit for the Bond 45 Italian Kitchen concept, from 1 to 2 (100% concept growth).  Other company concepts are Brooklyn Diner (2), Café Fiorello (1), Fiorella Pizzeria E Caffe (1), Redeye Grill (1), and Trattoria Dell’ Arte (1).  Overall company increase was from 7 to 8 (14% company growth).  The restaurants are mostly upscale, open for lunch and dinner, with a $15-$50+ per person check average.  Brooklyn Diner is family/casual, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Cuisines at the restaurants are Italian and American.  All restaurants have full bar service and average seating is for around 200.  Catering, banquet and online ordering are available.  Trading areas are MD and NY.

Las Vegas, NV-based METRO PIZZA (founded 1980) has increased by 1 unit, from 4 to 5 (25% growth).  This family/casual pizzeria concept is open for lunch and dinner, with a $4-$12+ per person price range.  Locations serve beer and wine and have seating for about 40.  Catering and delivery services are available.  All locations are in NV.

Costa Mesa, CA-based ELEPHANT BAR RESTAURANTS (founded 1980) has increased by 2 units, from 46 to 48 (4% growth).  This family/casual concept serves American cuisine and is open for lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is $10-$30+, with full bar and seating for about 300.  Catering and private party facilities are available.  Trading areas are AZ, CA, CO, FL, KS, MO, NM, NV, and OH.

Costa Mesa, CA-based EL POLLO LOCO (founded 1975) has increased by 4 units, from 400 to 404 (1% growth).  This fast casual Mexican concept is open for lunch and dinner, with a $4-$12+ per person price range.  Units seat about 60 and offer drive-thru and catering services.  About half the stores are franchised.  Trading areas are AZ, CA, NV, TX, and UT.

North Palm Beach, FL-based BURGERFI (founded 2010) has increased by 35 units, from 12 to 47 (292% growth) and entered into IL, CT, GA, MI, NY, OH, TN, and VA.  The restaurants are fast casual, open for lunch and dinner.  Per person price range is $4-$12+, serving beer and wine.  Average seating is for around 60.  Online ordering is available.  Locations are franchised and trade in CT, FL, GA, IL, MI, NC, NY, OH, TN, TX, and VA.

American Fork, UT-based SUB ZERO ICE CREAM (founded 2005) has increased by 6 units, from 19 to 25 (32% growth) and entered into FL and MN.  This quick serve ice cream concept is open for lunch and dinner hours, with a $4-$12+ per person price range.  Units seat about 30 and offer catering service.  The stores are franchised and trade in AZ, CA, FL, ID, MN, UT, and WA.

New York, NY-based SAMBA BRANDS MANAGEMENT (founded 1999) has increased by 1 unit for the Sushisamba concept, from 6 to 7 (17% concept growth).  Other company concepts are Duck & Waffle (1) and Sugarcane Raw Bar Grill (1).  Overall company increase was from 8 to 9 (13% growth).  These upscale sushi restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, with a $15-$50+ per person check average.  The restaurants have full bar service and seat around 125.  Catering and banquet services are available.  The restaurants are located in FL, IL, NV, NY, and London.  We last wrote about this company on 10/16/12 (40% growth).

Winston Salem, NC-based EAST COAST WINGS (founded 1995) has increased by 2 units, from 21 to 23 (10% growth) and entered into TX.  This family/casual chicken wing concept is open for lunch and dinner, with a $4-$12+ per person check average.  The restaurants serve beer and seat about 100.  Catering is available.  All locations are franchised and trade in NC and TX.  We last featured this company on 6/12/12 (17% growth).

Birmingham, AL-based ZOE’S KITCHEN (founded 1995) has increased by 18 units, from 69 to 87 (26% growth) and entered into NJ, OK, and PA.  This fast casual Mediterranean concept is open for lunch and dinner, with a $6-$15+ per person check average.  Seating is for around 60.  Beer and wine are served at select locations.  Catering service is available.  Trading areas are AL, AZ, FL, GA, KY, LA, MD, NC, NJ, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, and VA.  We wrote about this concept on 3/20/12 (9% growth) and on 10/2/12 (15% growth).
