Growing Concepts
Concepts that have grown by at least 5% (if less than 50 units).

Las Vegas, NV-based ZABA’S MEXICAN GRILL (founded 2001) has increased by 1 unit, from 5 to 6 (20% growth).  The restaurants are fast casual, open for lunch and dinner, with a $4-$10 per person check average.  Beer and wine are served and seating is for about 60.  Catering is available.  All locations are in NV.

Washington, DC-based THE PRIME RIB (founded 1965) has increased by 1 unit, from 3 to 4 (33% growth).  This is an upscale steakhouse concept, open for lunch and dinner, with a $15-$50+ per person check average.  The restaurants have a full bar and seating for about 200.  Private party services are available.  Trading areas are DC, MD, and PA.

B.R. GUEST RESTAURANTS of New York, NY (founded 1987) has increased by 1 unit, from 27 to 28 (4% growth).  They increased by 1 unit for Blue Water Grill, from 1 to 2 (100% concept growth) and by 2 units for Striphouse, from 2 to 4 (100% concept growth) while adding a new concept called Hilo.  Other concepts are 675 Bar (1), Atlantic Grill (3), Bill’s Bar & Burger (3), Blue Fin (1), Dos Caminos (7), Fiamma Trattoria (1), Isabella’s (1), Ocean Grill (1), Ruby Foo’s (1), Sammy D’s (1) and Wildwood Bbq (1).  These tend to be upscale restaurants with full bar and seating for around 250.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served.  Per person check average is around $15-$50+.  Catering and banquet services are offered.  Locations are in FL, NJ, NV and NY.  The company no longer operates 1920 Bunker, Kibo or Primehouse New York.

Burlington, ON-based TURTLE JACK’S MUSKOKA GRILL (founded 1992) has increased by 1 unit, from 14 to 15 (7% growth).  This family/casual concept serves American cuisine and is open for lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is $8-$20, with full bar service.  Seating is for around 300.  Catering is available.  About half the restaurants are franchised.  All units are located in ON.

Rochester, NY-based SALVATORE’S OLD FASHIONED PIZZERIA (founded 1978) has increased by 4 units, from 22 to 26 (18% growth).  This quick serve Italian and pizza concept is open for lunch and dinner, with a $3-$8 per person price range.  Locations seat around 30 and offer online ordering, catering and delivery services.  All stores are in NY.

RENZIOS GREEK FOOD headquartered in Greenwood Village, CO (founded 1986) has increased by 2 units, from 6 to 8 (33% growth) and expanded into MT.  These are fast casual Greek restaurants with seating for around 30.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $4-$10.  Patio seating is offered.  Locations are in CO, MT and WY.

California-based TENDER GREENS (founded 2006) has increased by 4 units, from 8 to 12 (50% growth).  This is a fast casual salad and sandwich concept, open for lunch and dinner.  Per person price range is $6-$12, serving beer and wine.  Units seat about 60.  Catering and online ordering services are available.  All locations are in CA.

Countryside, IL-based COOPER’S HAWK WINERY & RESTAURANT (founded 2005) has increased by 5 units, from 8 to 13 (63% growth) and entered into FL, MO, and OH.  This upscale concept is open for lunch and dinner, serving American cuisine.  Per person check average is $15-$50+, with full bar service and seating for about 300.  Catering and banquet services are available.  Trading areas are FL, IL, IN, MO, OH, and WI.

Florida-based GYROVILLE REALLY FRESH REALLY GREEK (founded 2010) has increased by 5 units, from 4 to 9 (125% growth).  This is a quick serve Greek concept, open for lunch and dinner.  Per person price range is $4-$10.  Average seating is for around 30.  All locations are in FL.

Houston, TX-based IGNITE RESTAURANT GROUP has increased by 3 units for the Joe’s Crab Shack concept, from 128 to 131 (2% concept growth) and has acquired the 210-unit Romano’s Macaroni Grill.  The company also operates the 16-unit Brick House Tavern & Tap concept.  Overall company increase was from 144 to 357 (148% growth).  The restaurants are family/casual concepts, open for lunch and dinner.  Joe’s Crab Shack serves seafood, Romano’s is Italian, and Brick House Tavern serves American cuisine.  Per person check average at the concepts is $10-$30, seating an average of 200.  All restaurants have full bar and offer private party services.  Trading areas are AL, AR, AZ, CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, ON, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, and WA.  We last featured this company on 12/20/11 (6% growth).

POLLO TROPICAL of Miami, FL (founded 1988) has increased by 3 units, from 126 to 129 (2% growth) and expanded into TN.  These are fast casual restaurants with seating for around 50.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $4-$10.  Catering and drive thru services are offered.  Locations are in FL, GA, NJ and TN.  We last reported on this concept on 2/7/12 when they had 5% growth.

Clearwater, FL-based CODY’S ORIGINAL ROADHOUSE (founded 1994) has increased by 1 unit, from 13 to 14 (8% growth).  This family/casual concept is open for dinner, serving American cuisine.  Per person check average is $10-$30, with full bar and seating for around 150.  Catering is available.  All locations are in FL.  We wrote about this concept on 6/5/12 (8% growth).

West Redding, CT-based SANDELLA’S FLATBREAD CAFÉ (founded 1994) has increased by 29 units, from 73 to 102 (40% growth) and entered into AL, CO, DC, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, KY, ME, NJ, RI, SC, TN, and WI.  This is a fast casual café concept, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Per person price range is $3-$8, offering online ordering service.  Units have limited seating.  Trading areas are AL, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DC, FL, GA, IA, ID, IL, KY, MA, MD, ME, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, WI, and the Middle East.  We last wrote about this concept on 12/6/11 (46% growth).

ROSA MEXICANO based in New York, NY (founded 1984) has increased by 1 unit from 14 to 15 (7% growth).  These are upscale Mexican restaurants with full bar and seating for around 200.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $15-$50+.  Catering and banquet services are available.  Locations are in CA, DC, FL, GA, MD, MN, NJ and NY.  We last reported on this concept on 2/21/12 when they had 40% growth.
