Internationally-Acclaimed Restaurant Expands Operations Leadership Team
Roy’s Restaurant, an internationally-acclaimed restaurant founded by Roy Yamaguchi and known for its fresh seafood, innovative chef creations and Pacific Rim cuisine, announced today the addition of Mario Cernadas as chief operating officer. With extensive experience in the restaurant industry, Cernadas will oversee daily operations of Roy’s Restaurant.
“As we accelerate and prepare Roy’s for the future, we are honored to have Mario join the Roy’s Ohana, leading day-to-day operations and ensuring a strengthened connection with each of our Guests,” said Sunil Dharod, president and chief executive officer of SSCP Management. “Mario’s natural leadership abilities and vast knowledge of the restaurant industry made him an attractive candidate, and having him onboard will only complement the acceleration and transformation of our business.”
Cernadas brings decades of unique knowledge to his new operations role at Roy’s Restaurants, crediting an earlier culinary apprenticeship and corporate chef position as catalysts for his deep passion and understanding of the culinary experience. Cernadas continued to expand his culinary leadership background and fine dining experience as director of operations at The Capital Grille.
Previously, Cernadas served as chief operating officer at RMH Franchise Holdings, the second largest Applebee’s franchise, where he was instrumental in leading acquisitions and growing the franchise group to more than 140 restaurants in just 10 months. Cernadas has held other various leadership roles in his tenure, serving as chief executive officer at Cici’s; senior vice president and chief operating officer at Texas Land and Cattle; vice president of operations at Tony Roma’s; director of international operations for Bennigan’s; and director of franchise operations at Applebee’s Services, Inc.
The internationally-acclaimed Roy’s Restaurant is known for its unique and creative menu, a sensational adventure in bold flavors, and its sincere and engaging hospitality that is a welcome escape from the ordinary dining experience. Roy’s Restaurant was born by blending two dynamic principals: delicious food and hospitality inspired by the “aloha” spirit of the Hawaiian Islands. Inspired by his Japanese roots and native Hawaiian cuisine, Chef Roy Yamaguchi opened the very first Roy’s Restaurant in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1988. Today there are 28 Roy’s locations around the world – 20 in the continental United States, six in Hawaii, one in Japan and one in Guam.
