Salsarita's Adds Flavorful Dessert Item to Menu

Salsarita’s, the Fresh Mexican Cantina, will debut a sure-to-be-favorite dessert on Aug. 21. Simple but delicious, Poquitos are Salsarita’s take on traditional Mexican favorite: the churro. Realizing the lack of variety offered on the dessert menu in most fast-casual Mexican restaurants, Salsarita’s is bringing the alternative to its customers.

Translated loosely, the term “poquito” means “little,” but these bite size treats boast big flavor in every bite. Small bites of dough rolled in cinnamon and sugar, Poquitos are served hot and offer the perfect ending to a tasty meal.

“Poquitos satisfy your need for just a little something sweet after enjoying the bold flavors that Salsarita’s has to offer,” said Salsarita’s CEO Phil Friedman. “The new item was developed using authentically-inspired flavors from Mexico, but with a Salsarita’s spin.”

Poquitos will come in packs of three or a baker’s dozen and will also be available on the catering menu.

Founded in 2000 in Charlotte, N.C., Salsarita’s offers Mexican favorites such as signature Casaritos, Mexican pizza-inspired Cantizzas, and an assortment of tacos, quesadillas and nachos made fresh to order with an extensive selection of proteins, toppings and fillings, as well as six flavorful house-made salsas.

The growing franchise has more than 80 locations in 19 states, including seven that are company-owned. Salsarita’s expects to have 4-6 franchise agreements signed before the end of 2013, with long-range projections calling for over 300 locations nationwide over the next several years.
