The Dairy Queen System Debuts the First-Ever Chips Ahoy! Blizzard Treat

Chocolate lovers can indulge this August with the new Blizzard Treat celebrating the 50th anniversary of Chips Ahoy!

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic Chips Ahoy! cookie and satisfy the most discriminate chocolate cravings, the Dairy Queen system, a Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.A and BRK.B) company, debuts the new Chips Ahoy! Blizzard Treat as the August Blizzard of the Month.

This marks the first time Chips Ahoy! has partnered with a quick-service restaurant (QSR) to offer a product with the famous cookie. Available at participating Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill restaurants nationwide beginning July 28 and throughout the month of August, the new Chips Ahoy! Blizzard Treat is a delicious blend of Chips Ahoy! chocolate chip cookies, chocolaty topping, choco chunks and creamy DQ vanilla soft serve.

The Chips Ahoy! Blizzard Treat is available in four sizes, including the popular Mini, and also can be served in a waffle cone.

“Chocolate chip cookies are a universal fan favorite,” said Barry Westrum, executive vice president of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). “We’ve blended the world’s best-selling chocolate chip cookie with our signature soft serve to create an innovative and decadent new Blizzard Treat.”

Many Blizzard Treat flavors, including Chips Ahoy!, can easily be made into DQ Cakes which are perfect for summer picnics and other special events, such as birthdays and anniversaries.

The Dairy Queen system began blending simple combinations of cookies, chocolates, nuts, fruits and candies with DQ soft serve in 1985 to create the signature Blizzard Treat. The iconic treat has created the served upside-down Blizzard culture and since then, one-of-a-kind flavors such as Chocolate Candy Shop and Confetti Cake have delighted Dairy Queen fans as part of the featured Blizzard of the Month program, which began in 2003.

American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ), which is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minn., develops, licenses and services a system of more than 6,300 Dairy Queen stores in the United States, Canada and 25 other countries. ADQ is part of the Berkshire Hathaway family of companies led by Warren Buffett, the legendary investor and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. For more information, visit DairyQueen.com.
