The League’s Executive Chef Devan Gernert Brings Guests Back in Time with Five-Course Dinner Featuring Dishes from The Early 20th Century on April 24th at 7pm; Benefits Autism Nonprofit Maggie’s Hope

Austinites no longer have to rely on Hollywood films to travel back in time. On Tuesday, April 24th, at 7pm The League Kitchen & Tavern’s Chef Devan Gernert will serve a five-course dinner paired with cocktails and wines that features one dish from the early 20th century starting from 1900 to 1940.

The cost for the dinner aptly named, “Dinner of the Decades Vol. 1,” is $75. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit Maggie’s Hope, a nonprofit organization co-founded by Fox Austin news anchor Loriana Hernandez that provides financial assistance to families in need of autism services. Limited seating is available so reservations are required. Interested parties can call 512-263-3279.

“There has been a lot of public and media interest about the early to mid-1900’s. The dishes I will recreate from the early 20th century will bring back a time that has been forgotten by our generation today. Having the opportunity to taste some of the most popular dishes served during that era is an excellent way to experience that period in our history,” said Gernert. “We, at The League, will take our guests back in time with modern flair with the five-course menu we are serving, at the same time, give back a portion to a local charity.”

Since April is National Autism Awareness Month, The League has committed to donating proceeds of the dinner to help Maggie’s Hope autism initiatives.

“Children with autism need your help now more than ever as you heard in our recent report that the number of those affected has climbed to a staggering 1 in 88… please support The League for the Dinner of the Decades to help fund treatments for children with autism. A portion of the money raised goes to Maggie’s Hope,” posted on Loriana Hernandez’s official Facebook page.

The League is located in the Lakeway area of Austin at 1310 Ranch Road 620 South at the Lakeway Plaza. For more information about The League, please visit: http://leaguelakeway.com.
