Free Cell Charging Becomes Newest Item on Menu
Just as Jesse finishes his “Eggs & Ham”, his cell phone reaches 99% charged. “I’m so glad this diner has free charging. I left my cell phone on all night and it was dead when I woke up.” Jesse has his day’s schedule and addresses on his phone. “I’d be late for the all my appointments if I had to stay home to charge my phone.”
Jesse is one of many who expect to have free charging at the establishments he visits. Bedford Diner’s owner (Jimmie) ordered a COUNTER-JUMP” system after he saw a growing number of customers asking for this service. “I didn’t want to see my customers go elsewhere because my Diner didn’t offer this,” he said. “The place serves all of the local crowd and we try to give them what they want. First it was WI-FI and now free charging.”
The owner, immediately after installation, saw customers were staying an average of 45 minutes longer. After the first three weeks, the entire system was paid for.
Small USB charging stations are strategically placed though out the establishment. Each unit is connected with hidden low voltage wires behind the bar. Wireless chargers are available at the tables. More information can be found at CounterJump.com.
Installation is easier than installing Christmas lights on a tree. Jimmie completed his installation in about 20 minutes. And since it is low voltage, no permits or installations by licensed electrician are required.
