Roadie announces all 1,750 Waffle House Restaurants as official Roadhouse Meeting Locations for neighbor-to-neighbor shipping app
Roadie, Inc., and Waffle House restaurants announced a new partnership that makes Waffle House the first official Roadie Roadhouse. Roadie is the mobile, app-based shipping platform that connects people with items to send with drivers who are already heading in the right direction.
Waffle House will offer Roadie drivers free food and beverages at its more than 1,750 restaurants in 25 states, and provide a convenient meeting location for drivers and senders. Roadies get a free waffle upon downloading the app and a free beverage when they’re on a gig (delivery).
“For the last 60 years, Waffle House has been a place for travelers and a preferred meeting place for our customers,” said Walt Ehmer, CEO of Waffle House. “Roadie combines the two making it easy for senders and drivers who love waffles to meet at the nearest Waffle House. And who doesn’t love waffles?”
“A sense of community and Americana is at the heart of the Roadie story, and we couldn’t have asked for a better partner than Waffle House, a beloved brand that shares that same spirit,” said Marc Gorlin, founder and CEO of Roadie. “Waffle House provides a friendly, comfortable place for our folks to meet, and grab a plate of scattered, smothered and covered while they’re at it.”
Waffle House will be promoting the Roadie app with in-store signage and through social media and email outreach to its Regulars Club members. Roadie will offer members of its community a variety of Waffle House promotions and special offers through the free Roadie mobile app, which is available for download in the iTunes Store and on Google Play.
Roadie is the newest entrant in the sharing economy, and the first neighbor-to-neighbor shipping network. The mobile app leverages a collaborative model, now trusted by 68% of consumers worldwide including more than half of all people in North America, according to a Nielsen survey.
Roadie, headquartered in Atlanta, has created an app-based community that puts unused capacity in passenger vehicles to work by connecting people with stuff to send with drivers heading in the right direction. Roadie’s model enables efficient, low cost delivery for senders and rewards drivers for trips they were already taking. Roadie is backed by Warren Stephens of Stephens Inc.; the UPS Strategic Enterprise Fund; Eric Schmidt’s TomorrowVentures; David Bonderman, founder of TPG Capital; Guggenheim Partners’ Executive Chairman Alan Schwartz; Square Co-founder Jim McKelvey; the Mellon Group; former CEO of ISS Tom Noonan, and H.
