Wetzel's Pretzels Invites Guests into the Wetzel's BakeryCompany Offers an In-Store Animated Look at the World of Wetzel’s

Wetzel's Pretzels Invites Guests into the Wetzel's BakeryWetzel’s Pretzels, the innovator in super-premium, hot and fresh pretzels, today announced it would invite guests into the world of Wetzel’s via a series of in-store animated films. The films premiered at Wetzel’s Downtown Disney District location at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, with nationwide rollout in process. The animations, which play in rotation every few minutes throughout the day, can be viewed here.

Each one-minute film begins with one of Wetzel’s animated baker boys stepping to the forefront of what appears to be a traditional digital menu board. The animation then takes the viewer on a journey into the bakery as the baker boys create various guest-favorite offerings, including Wetzel Bitz, Wetzel Dogs, Sinful Cinnamon Pretzels, Fresh Lemonade and the Pepperoni Twist Pretzels.

Years ago, Wetzel’s led the movement away from text-heavy menu boards, replacing them with singular bold product images. With the introduction of this platform, the company takes guest engagement to another level.

“These animated films enable Wetzel’s Pretzels to engage guests in an entertaining and brand-consistent way, and they’ve been met with great applause,” said Bill Phelps, CEO and co-founder of Wetzel’s Pretzels. “Along with being fun, they speak to the brand’s commitment to being the sector innovator, creating excitement that drives traffic and sales.”

The project was led by Wetzel’s advertising agency O’Leary and Partners, in collaboration with production company Chop Shop Entertainment.

2014 marks Wetzel’s Pretzels 20th anniversary. Armed with a vision and a tasty recipe for soft pretzel perfection, Bill Phelps and Rick Wetzel opened the first Wetzel’s Pretzels bakery in Redondo Beach, Calif., in 1994. Long lines of hungry customers soon formed, attracted by mouth-watering soft pretzels that were hand-rolled, baked fresh and served hot from the oven. As word spread about these golden-on-the-outside pretzels, the company added additional offerings to its menu. Today, Wetzel’s Pretzels has grown to more than 275 fresh bakeries across the United States and around the world, including premier locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. Every Wetzel’s Pretzels bakery adheres to the original vision of its founders; that each super-premium pretzel will be crafted from fresh dough and baked in-store consistently throughout the day, to ensure a delicious offering for each consumer, regardless of when the craving for a pretzel strikes.
