Commerce Township Can’t Wait for Dickey’s to Open

Slow smoked barbecue is coming to Commerce Township. Dickey’s Barbecue Pit will be opening in the Commerce Park strip mall on Thursday, November 15 at 11 a.m. As a special treat the restaurant will be giving the first 100 customers a free Pulled Pork Big Barbecue sandwich.

“We’re most excited about the positive feedback we have gotten from the community,” said local owner Peggy Anicka who owns and operates this location with her husband Joe. “Every day people walk in to see if we are open yet and tell us that they can’t wait for some good BBQ.”

For the past 10 years Joe served as a park officer for the State of Michigan and prior to that he worked in restaurants including the Drake Hotel in Chicago. Peggy has 15 years of restaurant experience and also spends her time giving back to the community. She is a volunteer at Haven, a shelter for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault, and also volunteers as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), where she serves as an advocate for children in the foster care system.

“The best part about being a Dickey’s franchise owner has been the corporate support team,” said Peggy Anicka. “Throughout the process we’ve been given step-by-step processes to follow to ensure our success.”

This new location is at 4825 Carroll Lake Road, about one mile west of Huron Valley Hospital in between Leo’s Coney Island and 7-Eleven. The store phone number is 248-360-4055.

Dickey’s Barbecue was founded by Travis Dickey with the goal of authentic slow smoked barbecue. More than 70 years later, the Dallas-based family run barbecue franchise still offers a quality selection of signature meats, home style sides, tangy barbecue sauce and free kids meals every Sunday.  All meats are slow smoked on site in each restaurant.  The fast-casual family-friendly concept has expanded to over 270 locations in 43 states and holds the title of the world’s largest barbecue franchise. This year Nation’s Restaurant News named Dickey’s “Top Five Growth Chains” and they were also named “Best Franchise Deal” by QSR Magazine.  For more information, visit
