Dairy Queen restaurants are celebrating fall and kicking off the start of the new school year with a sweet deal. Beginning September 1, participating Dairy Queen and DQ Grill & Chill restaurants nationwide will offer a buy one regular price Blizzard Treat, get a second of equal or lesser size for 99 cents.
The featured Blizzard of the Month is the popular Oreo Blizzard Treat, made with crumbled Oreo cookie pieces blended with creamy DQ vanilla soft serve.
From the grill, Dairy Queen restaurants also offer a special meal deal combo in September with the Mushroom Swiss GrillBurger, a thick, juicy 1/4 lb. burger topped with fresh mushrooms and aged Swiss cheese nestled on a warm, toasted bun and served with French fries and a beverage.
“At Dairy Queen restaurants, good isn’t good enough. So as we move into the fall season, we want to celebrate with a value-based promotion of our signature brand,” said Barry Westrum, executive vice president of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation. “Our buy one Blizzard Treat, get one for 99 cents coupled with our Mushroom Swiss GrillBurger value meal deal gives customers sit down restaurant flavors at fast food prices. We are giving them a reason to visit us for lunch, dinner, a midday treat and an evening snack.”
The Oreo Blizzard Treat is available in Mini, small, medium or large sizes. Many Blizzard Treat flavors, including Oreo, can be easily turned into DQ Cakes which are perfect for celebrating special events such as Labor Day picnics, birthdays or anniversaries.
Dairy Queen began blending simple combinations of cookies, candies, nuts, fruits and DQ soft serve in 1985 to create the signature Blizzard Treat. Since then, one-of-a-kind flavors such as Nutter Butter, Triple Chocoholic, Midnight Truffle, Turtle Oreo and Confetti Cake have delighted Dairy Queen fans as part of the featured Blizzard of the Month program, which began in 2003.
The incredible popularity of the Blizzard brand is what led the Dairy Queen system to initiate the Blizzard Fan Club in 2005 and the Dairy Queen Facebook fan page in 2008. Today, the Fan Club is 4.3 million members strong while the DQ Facebook fan page has more than 5.2 million friends.
