World’s Largest Barbecue Brand Brings Slow-Smoked Meats to Early County
Barbecue fans in Georgia have a brand-new destination to check out. Located just a short drive from the Alabama-Georgia state line, Dickey’s Barbecue Pit is officially introducing its historic menu to the Blakely community for the very first time. The new restaurant is situated right in the heart of town on South Main Street, making authentic Texas flavors accessible to local residents and traveling motorists alike.
The setup offers plenty of convenience for people on the go. Positioned inside the popular Marathon Gas fuel station, this location features indoor dining, online ordering, and full catering options. The design makes it simple to grab a quick meal during a road trip, sit down with family, or plan food for a large local gathering.
“Growing up in Blakely, I’ve always wanted to bring something special and convenient to the community I call home,” said franchisee PJ Patel. “Whether guests are stopping in for a quick lunch, fueling up on a road trip or ordering catering for a family gathering, we’re excited to serve delicious, slow-smoked barbecue that’s easy to enjoy any day of the week.”
A Proud Local Franchisee Commands the Pit at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit
While the location is brand new, the family behind it is deeply rooted in local hospitality. The restaurant marks the first franchise venture with the brand for PJ Patel, an Early County High School graduate and proud Blakely local. His family has owned and operated the surrounding Marathon Gas station since 1997, bringing nearly three decades of service experience to the table.
The culinary foundation of the concept relies on traditional, time-tested methods:
-
Slow-Smoked Masterpieces: Premium cuts of brisket, pork, chicken, and kielbasa sausage are smoked low and slow for hours.
-
Proprietary Wood Blends: The pitmasters utilize a unique applewood pellet blend to create their signature flavor profile.
-
No Bad Stuff: Dickey’s prides itself on serving high-quality meats and homestyle sides with no artificial fillers.
The Blakely restaurant welcomes hungry guests from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Sunday. For more information, visit Dickeys.com.
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit dates back to 1941, when World War I Veteran Travis Dickey founded the very first location in Texas. Today, the third-generation-led franchise continues to serve classic American staples like pulled pork, brisket, coleslaw, barbecue beans, and potato salad. Guests visiting the new Georgia counter can also enjoy chicken wings, fall-off-the-bone ribs, loaded baked potatoes, brisket burnt ends, and the legendary Big Yellow Cup.
