The Island boasts over 200 restaurants featuring every conceivable cuisine from the latest in gourmet to Lowcountry faves like shrimp and grits and Frogmore Stew. Some of the region’s most notable restaurants are offering up special prix-fixe menus for one week only during Hilton Head Island Restaurant Week. Dining out is a big part of travel and today’s travelers are demanding not only a beautiful locale, but cuisine that makes the trip memorable. The resort Island is home to not one, but two Food Network favorites. Chef Robert Irvine and Food Network Star finalist Orchid Palmeier both have popular establishments on the Island that are offering great deals on some of their signature dishes during Restaurant Week.

Modeled after successful restaurant weeks in cities like New York and San Francisco, it’s one more way that the Island is staking its claim on the culinary map. “Hilton Head Island is becoming known for its culinary scene with two Food Network chefs on the island and so many great restaurants to choose from, travelers get to experience the best in new Southern cuisine,” said visitor’s bureau Vice President Susan Thomas who noted that the popular Foodspotting app is this year’s media sponsor. “Foodies are finding that our Island has a lot to offer when it comes discovering fantastic food.”
