Killer Burger, the fast-growing “better burger” concept celebrated for its bold and award-winning menu, has announced the opening of its first location in Houston. This milestone marks the brand’s third restaurant in the state of Texas. Situated at 1909 Taylor St. in the Sawyer Heights area, the new shop is operated by an experienced local franchise group under a multi-unit agreement. Day-to-day operations are led by Hallie Nugent, a professional with over a decade of restaurant management and team-building experience.
Strategic Growth for Killer Burger Across the Lone Star State
The entrance into the Houston market follows the successful launch of two San Antonio locations in 2025. Those sites are operated by the brand’s founder and franchisee, Thomas “TJ” Southard. This latest expansion underscores the strategic importance of Texas as a priority market while the brand scales its presence nationwide.
“Texas has been an incredible growth market for us, and the response we’ve seen so far has given us a lot of confidence as we expand into new cities like Houston,” said Killer Burger CEO Adam Sanders. “We’re not trying to be just another burger spot – we’re here to bring something bold and different. Killer Burger has always been about big flavor, no shortcuts, and an experience that stands out, and we’re excited to introduce that to Houston”.
Future Expansion Plans for Killer Burger
The brand is maintaining significant momentum through the remainder of the year. Key highlights of the upcoming growth pipeline include:
-
Austin Expansion: Two additional locations are scheduled to open in Austin later this summer.
-
Regional Growth: New restaurants are planned for Corvallis, Oregon, and Boise, Idaho, later this year.
-
Operational Investment: The company continues to invest in technology and franchise development to ensure quality and profitability during scaling.
-
National Transition: These moves are part of the brand’s evolution from a regional favorite into a national fast-casual burger concept.
With more than nine years of “Best Burger” accolades, the Sawyer Heights location aims to provide an indulgent dining experience in one of Houston’s premier dining hubs.
Killer Burger is growing its presence in new markets by leveraging a scalable operating model and strategic franchise partnerships, currently operating 28 company-owned and franchised sites across Texas and the Pacific Northwest.
