Popular bakery café first of its kind in the Rio Grande Valley
La Plaza Mall just got a little sweeter, and a whole lot more irresistible.
Nestlé Toll House Café by Chip celebrated the opening of its first location in McAllen last month, featuring a showcase kiosk that specializes in serving up mouthwatering chocolate chip cookies, premium coffee and a wide array of delectable treats.
The La Plaza restaurant is the second cafe owned and operated by local franchise partner Jose Moreno. Having had so much fun and success with his first café at Sunrise Mall in neighboring Brownsville, Moreno said he is equally excited about his newest addition.
“Let’s face it, there’s nothing better than the smell of warm, freshly baked Nestlé Toll House cookies,” Moreno said. “If the aroma doesn’t hook you, your first bite will. And if you’re anything like me, you can’t resist pairing our cookies with a cool mocha frappe and a scoop of ice cream. That mini escape from the hustle and bustle is what we proudly deliver to the shoppers here at La Plaza Mall.”
The premium dessert destination concept is built around the world’s most powerful food name – Nestlé. Along with its universally loved Nestlé Toll House cookies and cookie cakes, the café serves brownies, muffins, smoothies, and Nescafé Milano premium coffee, and is also a great lunch option thanks to its made-to-order Crepes and Panini sandwiches. The new café also features digital menus displayed on six LED screens and an upgraded design that showcases the brand’s distinctive product offerings in a more efficient and attractive manner.

The McAllen location becomes the 22nd Nestlé Toll House Café in Texas. La Plaza Mall is located at 2200 S. 10th St., about a 10-minute drive from Mission, TX.
The café can be found across from Banana Republic and beside Guess and is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Mall anchors include Dillard’s, Sears, Macy’s and J.C. Penney.
