Industry Veteran Brings Over 25 Years of Restaurant Finance Expertise
Portillo’s (NASDAQ: PTLO) has named former Olive Garden executive Kevin Kalicak as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer, effective September 7, 2026. Bringing over 25 years of restaurant finance leadership from Darden Restaurants, Kalicak will oversee the company’s financial planning, accounting, investor relations, internal audit, tax, and supply chain management. President and CEO Brett Patterson noted that Kalicak’s experience leading high-performing finance organizations will be instrumental as the company refines its strategy, supports operational excellence, and positions the brand for long-term growth.
Most recently managing financial operations for Olive Garden’s $5 billion annual sales footprint across 900 locations, Kalicak brings extensive experience scaling company-owned operations. In connection with his appointment, Portillo’s Board of Directors approved a one-time sign-on RSU award valued at $825,000 as an inducement grant under Nasdaq Listing Rule 5635(c)(4), which vests ratably over three years. Kalicak shared that he is honored to join the beloved brand and looks forward to partnering with the executive and restaurant teams to strengthen the business and create value for guests, team members, and shareholders.
From its origins as a single Chicago hot dog trailer, Portillo’s has grown into a destination concept operating more than 100 company-owned locations across 11 states. Known for its Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago-style hot dogs, char-broiled burgers, fresh salads, and iconic chocolate cake, the brand serves guests through dine-in, drive-thru, takeout, and delivery, while also shipping nationwide to all 50 states
