Growing Concepts of Multi Unit Operators
Concepts that have grown by at least 5% (if less than 50 units).

Las Vegas, NV-based FELLINI’S ITALIAN RESTAURANT has increased by 1 unit, from 3 to 4 (33% company growth), with the addition of a new concept called Tap House.  Other concepts are Fellini’s Italian Restaurant (1), Salvatore’s Italian Cuisine (1), and The Italian-American Club Restaurant (1).  These are upscale Italian concepts, open for dinner.  Per person check average is $15-$50+, serving full bar.  Seating is for about 100 and banquet services are available.  All the restaurants are in NV.

New York, NY-based SHAKE SHACK (founded 2004) has increased by 23 units, from 23 to 46 (100% growth) and entered into NJ.  This is a fast casual burger restaurant, open for lunch and dinner. Per person price range is $6-$15+, serving beer and wine.  Average seating is for about 100.  Catering is available.  Trading areas are CT, DC, FL,MA, NY, PA, the Middle East and Europe.  Shake Shack is a subsidiary of Union Square Hospitality.

LEAL’S MEXICAN RESTAURANT of Clovis, NM (founded 1957) has increased by 1 unit, from 7 to 8 (14% growth).  These are casual restaurants with seating for around 150.  Beer and wine are served.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $6-$15+.  Catering is offered.  Locations are in NM and TX.

LEEANN CHIN INC based in Bloomington, MN (founded 1980) has increased by 10 units, from 153 to 163 (7% overall company growth).  The Leeann Chin concept has grown from 46 to 51 (11% concept growth).  These are fast casual Chinese restaurants with seating for around 80.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Beer and wine are served.  Per person check average is around $4-$12+.  Catering is offered.  Other company concepts have unit changes also:  Pick UpStix has increased by 2 units from 69 to 71 (3% growth) and Mandarin Express has increased by 4 units, from 35 to 39 (11% growth).  Chin’s Asia has decreased from 3 to 2 (33% growth).

New York, NY-based LUKE’S LOBSTER (founded 2009) has increased by 3 units, from 9 to 12 (33% growth).  This is a family/casual seafood concept, open for lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is $10-$30+, serving beer and wine.  Locations have limited seating for around 20.  Catering is available.  Trading areas are DC, MD, NY, and PA.

Dallas, TX-based DALLAS RESTAURANT GROUP (founded 2005) has increased by 1 unit for the Chop House Burger concept, from 1 to 2 (100% concept growth).  Other company concepts include Dallas Chop House (1), Dallas Fish Market (1), and Wild Salsa (1).  Overall company increase was from 4 to 5 (25% growth).  These are upscale steak and seafood concepts, open for lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is $15-$50+, with full bar and seating for about 225.  Catering and banquet services are available.  All the restaurants are in TX. Phoenix, AZ-based FEZ has increased by 1 unit, from 4 to 5 (25% company growth), with the addition of a new concept called Pizza People Pub.  Other concepts are Bliss Rebar (1), Fez (1), Metropolis (1), and Switch Restaurant Bar (1).  The restaurants are family/casual, open for lunch and dinner, serving multiple cuisine types.  Per person check average is $8-$20+, with full bar service and seating for around 150.  Catering and online ordering options are available.  All locations are in AZ.  We wrote about this company on 1/7/14 (33% growth).
