Ruby Slipper Hosts One Day Fundraiser To Help Fight Childhood Hunger

New Orleans Born Brunch Destination Ruby Slipper Hosts One Day Community Benefit

Ruby Slipper Hosts One Day Fundraiser To Help Fight Childhood HungerEvery visit goes beyond brunch on Saturday, July 11, as Ruby Slipper hosts a one day fundraiser benefiting No Kid Hungry at its Mid City restaurant. Guests will receive a meal on the house and are encouraged to donate what they would have spent on a meal to No Kid Hungry.

For many children, summer can be one of the most challenging times of the year since school meals are no longer available. With an estimated 1 in 4 children in Louisiana facing hunger, community support helps fill the gap until school resumes. Every donation made on July 11 will go directly to No Kid Hungry, with Ruby Slipper’s restaurant technology partner, Toast, matching every dollar donated to double the impact. The event will take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the brand’s Mid City restaurant at 315 S. Broad St.

Gathering for a Bigger Purpose at Ruby Slipper

“At Ruby Slipper, brunch has always been about bringing people together,” says Jennifer Weishaupt, co-founder of the brand. “On July 11, we’re inviting our community to gather around the table for something bigger than breakfast. It’s a simple idea: enjoy brunch on us and, if you’re able, donate what you would have spent to help ensure more children have meals this summer.”

Last year, guests raised more than $9,500 for No Kid Hungry, with Toast’s matching support doubling the campaign’s reach. This year’s event aims to build on that momentum and raise even more for children and families facing food insecurity.

Turning the Holiday Table into Community Action

“Restaurants have always played an important role in bringing communities together,” says Jackie Martin, Global Head of Inclusion and Impact at Toast. “Partnering with Ruby Slipper makes it easy for guests to turn brunch into support for children in need. It’s inspiring to see how restaurants and the people they serve can make a real difference together.”
