19-Year-Old Entrepreneur and Law Student Opens Pair of Mediterranean Fast-Casual Venues in Hometown
Local fans of fresh Mediterranean meals now have two spots to choose from in Bakersfield. The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill has launched a new location on Panama Lane in the Old River Ranch center, with another spot opening this week on Rosedale Highway in Rosedale Crossing.
Both spots belong to 19-year-old law student and Bakersfield native Gurshaan Sidhu. Sidhu spotted an opportunity to bring some of his personal menu favorites to his hometown market.
“I’m incredibly proud to bring The Great Greek Mediterranean Grill to Bakersfield and introduce our community to food that I genuinely love,” said Sidhu. “I’ve always wanted to build something meaningful in the city where I grew up, and this concept checks every box. It offers fresh, healthier options without sacrificing flavor, and I think people are going to be excited to have something new and different.”

The brand’s menu centers on classic Mediterranean diet staples. Guests can build customized rice bowls, fresh salads, and pita wraps with protein choices like gyro meat and salmon. Side items include made-to-order Feta Fries, house-crafted dips, and traditional desserts such as rice pudding and baklava ice cream.
In addition to standard dine-in service, both Bakersfield spots feature full catering offerings for corporate lunches, social gatherings, and family events. Catering options range from build-your-own gyro bars and souvlaki skewers to classic sides and desserts.
