Six U.S. restaurants make the list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna
Today, the culinary world celebrated the top restaurants from across the globe with the announcement of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants sponsored by S.Pellegrino and Acqua Panna. Organized and published by Restaurant magazine, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards represent the leading trends and very best in fine dining from around the world. The world’s greatest chefs and influential restaurateurs, as well as international media, gathered in London’s historic Guildhall for the announcement. U.S. chefs and restaurateurs were proud to attend representing restaurants that have made this very prestigious list.

Since the first World’s 50 Best Restaurants List was published in Restaurant magazine in 2002, the U.S. has had 26 restaurants make the list which is more than any other country. Further, U.S. Chef Grant Achatz of Alinea was awarded the 2013 Chef’s Choice Award, voted by all chefs on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. Now in its 11th year, The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards represent the opinions of over 900 international leaders in the restaurant industry, each selected for their expert opinion of the international restaurant scene. What constitutes as “best” is left to the judgment of these trusted and well-travelled gourmets. These individuals make up The Diners Club International® World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy which represents 26 separate regions around the world. Each region has its own panel of 36 members including a chairperson. The panel includes food critics, chefs, restaurateurs and highly regarded ‘gastronomes’ each of whom has seven votes. Of the seven votes, at least three must be used to recognize restaurants outside of the voter’s region.
