Togo's Dedicates September Efforts To Ending Childhood Hunger In America

Togo’s Eateries, Inc., a “West Coast Original” since 1971 serving up big, fresh, meaty, made to order sandwiches stuffed with the freshest ingredients, is teaming up for the third year with its nearly 250 restaurants along the West Coast to support Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign. From Sept. 11-30, Togo’s guests will receive a free 20 oz. fountain drink for every $1 donation made to No Kid Hungry.

In addition, Togo’s is encouraging guests to visit its Facebook fan page and “Give a Like to Change a Life.” For the first time, Togo’s will donate $1 to the No Kid Hungry campaign for every like received on its Facebook page during September for up to 10,000 new fans. Togo’s aims to raise more than $30,000 through its in-store and social media outreach. Over the past two years, Togo’s has donated over $51,000 to help end childhood hunger in the U.S.

“We are proud to continue our partnership with the No Kid Hungry campaign and bring together the communities we serve for this great cause,” said Tony Gioia, chairman and CEO of Togo’s Holdings, LLC. “We want to make sure that every child in America gets the proper nutrition they need, so we encourage everyone to dine out throughout the month of September to help bring an end to childhood hunger in our country.”

Last September alone, diners across the country, including Togo’s guests, helped raised nearly $6 million to support the No Kid Hungry campaign’s efforts.

“Everyone—private citizens, businesses, policymakers, and nonprofits—has a role in helping end childhood hunger in America,” said Billy Shore, Founder and CEO of Share Our Strength. “I encourage everyone to dine out often at participating restaurants wherever they are this September. Then visit NoKidHungry.org to join this national movement to ensure that every child in America has access to the nutritious food they need, every day.”

At Togo’s, there is a relentless commitment to using only the freshest, superior-quality ingredients and meats. Fresh baked Artisan bread, abundant quantities of lean pastrami, roast beef, turkey and other premium meats as well as California avocados are part of Togo’s exceptional menu, and set the brand apart from other sandwich shops.

Togo’s was founded in 1971 by a young college student with a large appetite and little money looking to make sandwiches the way he liked them — big, fresh and meaty. Keeping in the spirit of the original, Togo’s products are still made with only the highest quality ingredients; including fresh-baked Artisan breads, hand sliced premium pastrami, turkey and roast beef, as well as California avocados and cheeses. Togo’s proprietary brand of old-fashioned Pastrami, 98 percent fat-free slow-roasted turkey, and Togo’s homemade chicken and tuna salad set the brand apart from other sandwich shops. Togo’s is a franchise-based business that offers online ordering and catering services at its nearly 250 locations along the West Coast. No child should grow up hungry in America, but one in five children struggles with hunger. Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign is ending childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day. The No Kid Hungry campaign connects kids in need to effective nutrition programs like school breakfast and summer meals and teaches low-income families to cook healthy, affordable meals through Cooking Matters.  This work is accomplished through the No Kid Hungry network, made up of private citizens, public officials, nonprofits, business leaders and others providing innovative hunger solutions in their communities.
