Boneheads Grilled Fish & Piri Piri Chicken, the popular six-unit Atlanta-based fast casual restaurant chain known for its signature Piri-Piri Chicken and distinctively-flavored fresh grilled seafood menu, has named 25-year hospitality and restaurant industry veteran, Sheri Miksa, as its new Chief Executive Officer and President.
“We are pleased to have attracted a talented executive like Sheri with her extensive restaurant industry experience,” said Boneheads’ owner, Ron Barber, an Atlanta entrepreneur and businessman. “We are certain Sheri’s strong industry background, including her substantial time in the fast casual segment and with franchised organizations, will help us build this brand into a major player in the growing fast casual segment.”
Miksa’s prior chief executive roles include leading the 150-unit fast casual Rubio’s Restaurants chain (Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grills – then NASDAQ: RUBO), and the 140-unit Robeks Juice brand, a 99% franchised fast casual chain. At Robeks the number of restaurants increased by 50% during her tenure.
“I am excited about the future of Boneheads,” said Sheri Miksa. “Fast casual fresh grilled seafood is an under-served segment and Boneheads’ craveable Piri-Piri sauces enhance their chicken as well as other menu options. I look forward to leading this brand to achieve its significant growth potential and to bringing these remarkable flavors, thanks to the Piri Piri peppers, to a broader U.S. audience.”
Previously, Miksa held executive roles with Seattle Coffee Company, Taco Bell Corporation, and LSG Sky Chefs. She holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, has served on the Board of Directors of Share our Strength’s Great American Dine-out and the Women’s Foodservice Forum (WFF), and currently serves on the Boards of Healthy Dining and Vita-Mix Corporation.
They were not businessmen, just chefs from South Africa and Atlanta. The chef from Atlanta was working on a new concept that offered people excellent quality grilled seafood dishes in a casual, but fast setting. The chef from South Africa wanted to introduce the U.S. to his beloved Piri-Piri pepper sauce. On a beautiful spring day in 2006, purely by accident, the two chefs actually backed their cars into each other. The two chefs struck up a conversation, had a good laugh, and the rest as they say is Bonehead history. Today, the wonderful, mouth watering taste of the Piri-Piri pepper, fresh caught seafood and out-of-the-oven chicken “collide” in our kitchens across the country. The sweetness of the pepper marries well with the grilled flavor of the chicken,
fish and vegetables. Our passion for only using fresh, local ingredients and producing great, healthy food that you can truly feel good about eating is no accident and if that is what it means to be a “Bonehead”…shouldn’t you be one?
Boneheads currently operates six locations with two planned openings this spring. Open for lunch and dinner for dine-in, take out, catering, online ordering and delivery.
