Concepts that have grown by at least 5% (if less than 50 units).

Washington-based SANTA FE MEXICAN GRILL (founded 2004) has increased by 1 unit, from 2 to 3 (50% growth).  The restaurants are family/casual, open for lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is $6-$15+, with full bar service and seating for about 70.  Catering, banquet and online ordering options are available.  All locations are in WA.

Chicago, IL-based GREEN ZEBRA (founded 2002) has added a new concept called Five50 Pizza Bar (1 unit) and entered into NV.  Other company concepts are Green Zebra (1) and Sage (1).  Overall company increase was from 2 to 3 (50% company growth).  Green Zebra and Sage are upscale, open for dinner.  Five50 is family/casual, open for lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is $10-$50+, with full bar and average seating for about 100.  Banquet rooms are available.  Trading areas are IL and NV.

Henderson, NV-based CHERRYBERRY SELF-SERVE YOGURT BAR (founded 2010) has increased by 56 units, from 107 to 163 (52% growth) and entered into CT, IN, MI, MT, NM, NS, SD, UT, WY, Turkey and Pakistan.  This quick serve frozen yogurt shop is open for lunch and dinner hours, with a $4-$12+ per person price range.  Units have seating for around 40.  Private party services are available.  All locations are franchised and trade in AR, CO, CT, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, ND, NE, NM, NS, OH, OK, SD, TX, UT, WI, WY, Turkey and Pakistan.  Cherryberry is a subsidiary of U-Swirl Inc.

St Paul, MN-based GREEN MILL RESTAURANTS (founded 1935) has increased by 1 unit for the Green Mill Restaurant concept, from 27 to 28 (4% concept growth) and by 1 unit for the Crooked Pint Ale concept, from 1 to 2 (100% concept growth).  Overall company increase was from 28 to 30 (7% growth).  The restaurants are family/casual, open for lunch and dinner, serving mostly pizza and Italian cuisine.  Per person check average is $8-$20+.  The restaurants have full bar service and offer catering, delivery and online ordering services.  Average seating is for about 250.  Locations are franchised and trade in KS, MN, ND and WI.

RED ANGEL PIZZA of Pauldin, OH (founded 1974) has increased from 1 unit, from 2 to 3 (50% growth).  These are take-out pizza restaurants with drive thru and delivery services.  Catering and banquet services are offered.  Locations are franchised and are in OH.

BLACK ANGUS STEAKHOUSE of Los Altos, CA (founded 1964) has increased by 1 unit, from 44 to 45 (2% growth).  These are family/casual steakhouses with full bar and seating for around 250.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $10-$30+.  Locations are in AK, AZ, CA, HI, NM and WA.

Auburn, AL-based CHICKEN SALAD CHICK (founded 2008) has increased by 24 units, from 8 to 32 (300% growth) and entered into NC, SC, and TN.  This fast casual salad and sandwich shop is open for lunch and dinner, with a $4-$12+ per person price range.  Units seat about 50 and offer catering and drive-thru services. Trading areas are AL, FL, GA, NC, SC and TN.

Norcross, GA-based WAFFLE HOUSE (founded 1955) has increased by 78 units, from 1683 to 1761 (5% growth).  The restaurants are family/casual, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is $4-$12+ and seating is for about 80.  Trading areas are AL, AR, AZ, CO, DE, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, MO, MS, NC, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX,VA and WV.  About half the stores are franchised.  We last wrote about this concept on 11/5/13 (3% growth).

ST LOUIS WINGS AND RIBS of Toronto, ON (founded 1992) has increased by 3 units, from 39 to 42 (8% growth).  These are family/casual restaurants with full bar and seating for around 90.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $6-$15+.  Locations are franchised and are in NB and ON.  We last reported on this concept on 10/15/13 (30% growth).

TAZIKI’S MEDITERRANEAN CAFE of Vestavia Hills, AL (founded 1998) has increased by 12 units, from 27 to 39 (44% growth) and expanded into KY and TX.   These are fast casual restaurants with seating for around 100.  Beer and wine are served.  Meal periods are lunch and dinner.  Per person check average is around $6-$15+.  Catering and banquet services are offered.  Locations are in AL, AR, CO, GA, KY, NC, SC, TN, TX, VA and WV.  We wrote about this concept on 10/29/14 (35% growth).

Scottsdale, AZ-based GRIMALDI’S COAL BRICK-OVEN PIZZERIA (founded 1931) has increased by 4 units, from 38 to 42 (11% growth) and entered into CA, CO, ID and LA.  These family/casual pizzerias are open for lunch and dinner, with a $6-$15+ per person check average.  Most locations have full bar service, some have only beer and wine.  Average seating is for about 125.  Catering, delivery and private party services are available.  Trading areas are AZ, CA, CO, FL, ID, LA, NJ, NV, NY, SC and TX.  We last featured this concept on 6/4/13 (9% growth).

Missoula, MT-based HUHOT MONGOLIAN GRILL (founded 1999) has increased by 2 units, from 54 to 56 (4% growth).  This fast casual Asian concept is open for lunch and dinner, with a $6-$15+ per person price range.  Locations serve beer and wine and seat around 150.  Catering and online ordering options are available.  The restaurants are franchised and trade in CO, IA, IN, KS, MN, MO, MT, ND, NE, OK, SC, SD, TX, UT, WA and WI.  We last wrote about this concept on 10/1/13 (11% growth).
