Shoney's Play at the Plate Sweepstakes Winner Chooses San Francisco Game

Shoney’s EVP Catherine Hite (second from left), Shoney Bear and Goodlettsville Shoney’s team members welcomed “Play at the Plate” winner Kim Reynolds (immediate right of Shoney Bear) as she picked up her winner’s package on Thursday. She is going to AT&T Park in San Francisco next week with her husband Kelly to see the Giants play the Diamondbacks on September 5th, all courtesy of Shoney’s summer sweepstakes.

Hendersonville, Tenn. Resident Wins Trip for Two to See America’s Favorite Pastime from Her ‘New Favorite Restaurant’

When Hendersonville, Tennessee resident Kim Reynolds lands in San Francisco next Wednesday with her husband Kelly, walks into AT&T Park on Thursday and takes her luxury seats 400 feet from McCovey Cove, she says she’ll be thinking of her new favorite restaurant, Shoney’s, headquartered in Nashville, 2300 miles away.

That’s because Shoney’s, through its summer Play at the Plate promotion, is treating the 54-year old administrative assistant and her guest like baseball royalty. Reynolds and her husband of 33 years received airfare, hotel accommodations and game tickets to the September 5 game between San Francisco and Arizona, a game she chose.

“I was completely shocked,” said Reynolds, who entered the sweepstakes at her local Shoney’s in Goodlettsville. “They said I could go anywhere I wanted, see any game I wanted and take whomever I wanted. I didn’t think I had a chance but now it’s almost too good to be true. All I can say is ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you Shoney’s! You are my new favorite restaurant.’” Reynolds says she is taking a small version of the restaurant’s iconic Shoney Bear® with her.

Any tie to the teams she’ll see? No, she’s an Atlanta fan.

“We go see the Braves every summer but we have always thought that the Giants’ (AT&T Park) ballpark was the best looking on TV,” said Reynolds. “And we’ve always wanted to go to San Francisco and Shoney’s is going to make it possible.”

“When I heard she was a Braves fan, I thought, ‘Hey, I’ll go with her,’” said Shoney’s Chairman and CEO David Davoudpour, also a Braves fan, who created the sweepstakes to “celebrate America’s favorite pastime at America’s favorite restaurant. But, this is her choice and we are thrilled to treat Kim and Kelly to a trip they’ll never forget.”
