Prostate cancer got its butt kicked on Father’s Day, when select Arooga’s locations, in conjunction with the Harrisburg Senators, raised $2500 in donations to benefit the PA Prostate Cancer Coalition.
With its first fundraiser in partnership with the Harrisburg Senators, Arooga’s hosted players and coaches from the team, who mixed and mingled with guests while signing autographs and taking pictures. A silent auction featuring awesome Senators memorabilia along with cool beer swag and more brought in the money which the coalition will use to continue to make prostate cancer a key public health care priority in Pennsylvania.
“It was a special Father’s Day at Arooga’s., and we thought that on this special day for Dad, we could do our part in continuing to bring attention to this serious men’s health issue,” said Gary Huether, Jr., co-founder and president of Arooga’s. “Prostate cancer affects tens of thousands of men in our country, and we thought pints of beer, free eats for Dad,and our beloved Senators would be the perfect combination to raise awareness of it.”
“We’re so grateful for partners like Arooga’s and the Harrisburg Senators. Working together on this Father’s Day promotion really engaged men and their families in prostate cancer awareness,” said Kristine Warner, executive director of the PA Prostate Cancer Coalition. “When you have great food, beer and baseball, you really get a guy’s attention. That opens the door for us to raise awareness for early detection and prostate cancer risk factors.”
Added Kevin Kulp, Harrisburg Senators team president: “Prostate Cancer Awareness Weekend was a huge success we think. And what better way to top it off than to partner with our friends from Arooga’s in an effort to raise some more money and awareness. It’s such an important issue and we’re thankful to have been able to play a small part. We look forward to continuing to grow this event and this weekend in the coming seasons”
