Arooga’s, with a little help from its friends – Wilsbach Distributors, Inc., Ace Distributing, and Kirchner’s – Completes October Initiative to Benefit Breast Cancer with 5456 Angry Orchard Pint Sales

Arooga’s has proved that beer and boobies are a great match.

A year after raising $2500 for the Feel Your Boobies Foundation in 2014, Arooga’s Grille House & Sports Bar more than doubled its donation in 2015 – with $5456 from Angry Orchard sales – to the non-profit breast cancer organization, which promotes proactive breast health in young women.

The region’s favorite sports bar, in partnership with Wilsbach Distributors, Inc., Ace Distributing, and Kirchner’s, recently hosted an October-long fundraiser and sold 5456 Angry Orchard drafts (donating a dollar for each sold) among its 10 Central Pennsylvania locations.

“We were determined to raise more money this year for this wonderful organization, but more than doubling it even surprised us,” said Gary Huether, Jr., co-founder and president of Arooga’s. “We love collaborating with our distributing partners for great causes and were thrilled that our guests stepped up for the Feel Your Boobies Foundation and enjoyed some great beer in the process.”

“This promotion provides much needed support for the Foundation’s College Outreach Program, which provided free breast health education materials to over 200 colleges nationwide,” said Leigh Hurst, Founder and President of the Feel Your Boobies Foundation. “Because of wonderful partnerships like this one, we are able to reach more young women with our message.”

“Ace Distributing is pleased to work together with Angry Orchard, Arooga’s, Wilsbach & Kirchner Distributors, four truly great community partners, to raise necessary funds for the Feel Your Boobies organization,” said Nate Fochtman, Vice President Craft and Business Development of Ace Distributing.  “Ace prides itself in being a strong community member but only with great partners can we achieve our goals in the community.”

“I enjoyed teaming up with Arooga’s on this great promotion and look forward to doing it again next year,” said Matt Kirchner of Kirchner’s.

Wilsbach began operation in 1933 in a small garage in uptown Harrisburg with Ballantine and Anheuser-Busch Inc as the first two suppliers. Realizing the need for more space, a new warehouse was built on 7th Street in Harrisburg.

As suppliers were added and sales increased – it was time to build again.  In 1972, Wilsbach Distributors, Inc. moved to Linglestown Road outside Harrisburg and remained there until 1999.  In 1999, Wilsbach built their current location – an 80,000 sq ft facility in Harrisburg off I-83 in Susquehanna Township.

The Sourbeer Family purchased the business in 1988 and continues to run the business today.  Under their tutelage, Wilsbach has become Central Pennsylvania’s #1 malt beverage distributor with a portfolio that now includes 31 of the finest Domestic, Import and Craft suppliers from around the World.

Ace Distributing was founded in 1948 by Jimmie and Nick Spagnola, currently owned by Jeff Reeder and Tim Strickler since 1988.  Throughout the years the company has expanded its distribution opportunities and portfolio of brands, spreading across six counties in South Central Pennsylvania and representing over sixty-four breweries from the United States and globally.

Ace Distributing has been recently recognized nationally for their market strategy with a 2014 & 2013 Craft Beer Distributor of the Year nomination by the Brewer’s Association & National Beer Wholesalers Association, as well as Beverage Trade Network’s “2014 Leading Craft Beer Distributors in the USA.”

Kirchner’s is Lancaster PA’s largest wholesale beverage distributor, specializing in quality domestic, micro, craft, & import beers since 1933.
