Bistrot Mirabelle Hosts Beer Versus Wine Dinner

Bistrot Mirabelle, Northwest Austin’s French-inspired bistro, is hosting a dinner featuring the ultimate dinner companion pairing battle – beer versus wine. On Monday, June 11 at 6:30pm, the bistro will serve a four-course wine and Harpoon beer pairing dinner for $40.00 (excluding tax and gratuity). Beer and wine lovers alike will enjoy Chef Dan Haverty’s menu and decide which spirit proves triumphant per course and overall.

    • Harpoon UFO White vs. Warre’s Optima Tawny 10 year Port

In 2010 Boston-based Harpoon Brewery was named the ninth-largest craft brewery and 16th largest overall brewery in the United States by the Brewers Association. The wines for the evening have been hand-picked from Glazer’s Domaines and Estates Wines.

Bistrot Mirabelle owner Brian O’Neill has long been a fan of Harpoon beers and originally planned on hosting strictly a beer dinner. “There are certainly no shortages of wine dinners in town, and I know how well Harpoon beers go with a meal. Then, our function manager and in-house wine guru had the brilliant idea of putting her wine knowledge to the test by challenging our beer pairings with select wines,” he said. “On June 11, the guests will have their say, although I know for a fact that the New England-themed menu will pair very well with every Harpoon!”

Formerly known as Mirabelle, Bistrot Mirabelle recently reopened under new ownership with a new chef, new French inspired menu and renovated interior. The neighborhood bistro takes reservations for parties of two or more. La Provence, the private function room, can host events of various sizes up to 80 people. Bistrot Mirabelle’s summer hours are Monday-Wednesday: 11am-3pm, Thursday: 11am-9pm, Friday: 11am-10pm, Saturday: 5pm-10pm and Sunday: 10am-8pm.
