New Restaurant at Fort Jackson Marks the Company’s Third Military Base Opening
When our nation’s soldiers leave home to serve their country, it’s hard to say goodbye to time spent with family and friends over warm, home style-cooked meals. In an effort to bring a taste of home to our service members, Boston Market has teamed up with the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (Exchange) to open restaurants on military bases across the country.
This month, the Exchange opened a Boston Market restaurant at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, its third on a military installation. Fort Jackson is the largest and most active Initial Entry Training Center in the U.S. Army, training more than 45,000 soldiers every year. The new Fort Jackson restaurant is located at 4110 Moseby St. in Fort Jackson, South Carolina.
The restaurant opening at Fort Jackson is part of a new expansion effort for Boston Market. Last year, the company signed an agreement with the Exchange to open Boston Market restaurants on military bases, including Fort Meade in Maryland and Fort Bliss in Texas, both of which opened last fall. Additional restaurants are planned for the remainder of 2015.
“We’ve had four great years of same-restaurant sales increases, and we’re growing again, so expanding is a key pillar for success,” said George Michel, CEO of Boston Market (a.k.a. “The Big Chicken”). “We make it a priority to support service members and their families, and we’re glad we can bring a taste of home to soldiers, one meal at a time.”
Beyond taking restaurants to military installations, Boston Market is also recruiting former service members to join its ranks. In particular, Boston Market is collaborating with military placement and transition offices and utilizing military and veteran job posting boards to attract prospective candidates.
In addition to the military base locations opened by the Exchange, Boston Market plans to open six company-owned restaurants this year in areas like New York and Florida. Boston Market is on a mission to deliver an experience to customers that is “All Good”. Launched last month, the “All Good” campaign is about highlighting in a bold way what sets Boston Market apart – great food, great service and great people.
