Chip City Cookies Hit The Big City: Newest Location Opens at 1371 Madison Ave, New York CityChip City Cookies continues to spread its delicious brand of baked goodness across New York as they open their newest gourmet cookie storefront at 1371 Madison Ave in the popular Carnegie Hill area of Manhattan. This newest location puts Chip City Cookies in a prime real estate hub of the city. The gourmet cookie brand has been enjoying a growing following thanks to their flavorful and sizable cookies, with varieties rotated weekly. They currently have leases signed to open six new locations throughout their home state of New York, which will be the latest additions to the brand’s growing national footprint. Chip City Cookies plans to continue their expansion to a goal of 40 open units by the end of 2023, boosting their position in a gourmet food segment that is seeing major growth.

“We are thrilled to be opening our doors six times throughout New York this year,” said Chip City founder and CEO Peter Phillips. “These openings are an incredible step forward for the brand.”

When asked about how these multiple new storefront openings align with Chip City Cookies overall mission, Phillips is quick to make the connection to their community focus. “Our goal is to make communities smile through the quality of our products and to make our teams and employees feel purpose in their communities,” he said.

Chip City Cookies were born of a friendly challenge between childhood friends from Astoria, Queens. Wagering which of the two could make the better cookie, Peter Phillips and Theodore Gailas realized they were onto something special with their inventive and delicious recipes. With a small storefront and some baking equipment, a dream was born between the two to not only open their own cookie business, but to find a way to give other entrepreneurs the ability to start their own business with a quality product in a segment in the food industry gaining rapid popularity.

Now, they’re developing in both new markets and across their home state, with 18 locations currently open throughout New York and New Jersey, and plans to enter new markets including Florida, Massachusetts and Washington, DC in 2023. The brand currently offers 40 inventive flavors on weekly rotation, including classics like Chocolate Chip and more creative contributions such as Blueberry Cheesecake and Oatmeal Apple Pie, making every trip a new flavor experience.

In 2022, Chip City received a $10 million investment infusion from Enlightened Hospitality Investments (EHI), the growth equity fund connected to Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG). The investment supports their goal of multi-state expansion and growth of their direct-to-consumer business, bolstered by its ship-anywhere partnership with Uber Eats. The brand also offers corporate gifting and catering capabilities. With several opportunities for revenue streams and a commitment to quality, variety and expansion, it’s clear that Chip CIty Cookies is on the precipice of a cookie revolution!

Chip City was born in Astoria, Queens in July of 2017 as a hobby between two childhood friends who sought to recreate the simple taste of their childhood. What began as a fun challenge to see who could create the best cookie turned into the Chip City we know and love today. The brand currently has more than 15 locations across New York and New Jersey, with plans to enter into new markets, including Florida, Massachusetts, Virginia, Maryland and Connecticut.
