Texas-Sized Heart and Gourmet BBQ: The Dickey Foundation's Denim & Diamonds Raises Nearly $200K for First Responders

When you combine dazzling glamour, down-home Texas hospitality, and mouthwatering gourmet barbecue, you get one heck of a successful fundraiser! That’s exactly what went down at The Dickey Foundation’s 4th Annual Denim & Diamonds event in Dallas, which sparkled with generosity, bringing together over 250 guests and raising just under $200,000 in crucial support for our nation’s first responders.

Held at the beautiful Empire Room, the evening was a perfect blend of high style and heart, reflecting the core mission of The Dickey Foundation: supporting the brave men and women who keep us safe every day.

BBQ, Boots, and Big Hearts

It wouldn’t be a true Dickey event without incredible food, and Chef Matt Burton certainly delivered, serving up amazing gourmet barbecue creations that kept the crowd fueled and happy. Guests enjoyed digging into the delicious food while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere, which included live entertainment from crowd-favorite band 90 Proof and energetic line dancing with Everlasting Dance.

But the real star of the evening – besides the generous community – was perhaps the authentic live Longhorn photo experience! Alongside the photo ops, a raffle featuring over 20 fantastic prizes, ranging up to $5,000 in value, added plenty of excitement.

Maurine Dickey, Executive Director of The Dickey Foundation, noted that “Each year, Denim & Diamonds reminds us why we do what we do. The generosity and spirit of our community continue to inspire us as we honor the brave men and women who protect us daily.”

A Million Dollars in Giving

This single night’s success has helped push The Dickey Foundation’s total fundraising efforts since its inception to nearly $1 million! These funds go directly toward purchasing critical safety equipment and life-saving resources for first responders across the country.

Roland Dickey, Jr., CEO of Dickey’s Capital Group, beautifully summed up the sentiment, saying the event is a “beautiful reflection of that mission. Seeing our community come together for such an important cause reminds us what true Texas hospitality and compassion look like.”

It was a shining example of what happens when you mix good food, good people, and an even better cause – proving that kindness and fantastic barbecue never go out of style!
