First Watch launches kid-inspired limited-time menu entrée to raise funds and awareness for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign.
1 in 5 children in America struggle with hunger. It’s a staggering statistic that First Watch hopes to help remedy.
For the month of September, the award-winning Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch restaurant is featuring a kid-inspired new menu item — 3 Little Pigs Mac & Cheese — in its nearly 120 restaurants nationwide. Fifty cents from each 3 Little Pigs Mac & Cheese purchased during the month of September will be donated to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign to help end childhood hunger in America.
While the entrée is kid-inspired, there’s nothing childlike about its rich flavor. Grown-ups are sure to swoon over the indulgent combination of potato gnocchi, creamy artisan cheeses, bacon, sausage and ham that makes this indulgent dish instantly craveable. The 3 Little Pigs Mac & Cheese features Emmi Roth USA (also a Share Our Strength partner) artisan Fontiago, Smoked Gouda and Gruyere cheeses.
Donations generated from this limited-time entrée will be in addition to the $50,000 annual contribution that First Watch provides by donating 25 cents from every kid’s meal sold throughout the course of one year. Through these combined efforts, First Watch’s donation will help connect more than 500,000 meals to children at risk of hunger across the country.
First Watch is known for its fresh, healthy approach to Breakfast, Brunch and Lunch, and its kid’s menu is no exception with choices that emphasize lean proteins, fruits, vegetables, whole grains and low-fat dairy. The kid’s menu, in cooperation with the National Restaurant Association’s Kids LiveWell program, features items that meet qualifying nutrition criteria based on leading health organizations’ scientific recommendations, including the 2010 USDA Dietary Guidelines.
First Watch has partnered with Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign since 2009 and has donated nearly $150,000 to the cause. First Watch is the largest and fastest-growing daytime-only restaurant concept in the U.S. with more than 120 restaurants in 16 states and additional units under development as part of the Bradenton Fla.-based company’s aggressive growth strategy. It also operates 20 restaurants under The Good Egg name in Arizona. First Watch serves its entire menu seven days a week from 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. The restaurant also offers guests complimentary newspapers and free Wi-Fi Internet access.
