After four decades of serving customers from Bourbon Street to Miami Beach to the Vegas Strip, iconic frozen cocktail brand and national bar chain, Fat Tuesday, is finally expanding to California.
The brand’s long-awaited, 3,600-square-foot flagship will open June 27th in The Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego, with the address of: 618 Fifth Ave, San Diego, CA 92101, marking Fat Tuesday’s debut on the West Coast and its most immersive restaurant-bar concept to date.
Southern California travelers generate a large share of Fat Tuesday’s customer base, and adding a California location is the single most popular request the national chain receives from customers and fans.
The new flagship blends daytime energy with a late-night vibe and offers the ultimate pregame destination for Padres games just steps from the stadium. By day, the new larger format concept is a family-friendly lunch spot that shifts into a 20-TV sports hub for afternoon games. By night, the lights go down and the energy turns up with nightly live entertainment, featuring Hip-Hop or Latin mixing DJs, karaoke, bingo, and more. Frozen cocktails, bottle service, and late-night specials keep the party going strong until 2 am.
With a larger format comes a larger menu, and guests can expect exciting offerings from day one. Opening specials (valid for two weeks) include 50% off all frozen drink souvenir cup refills, $1 bone-in wings, and $10 signature cocktails. The full kitchen will serve up signature pizzas, wet or dry-rubbed wings, handhelds, shareable bar bites, brunch favorites, and more.
The bar features eight frozen cocktail flavors, fan-favorite frozen combos, classic and signature cocktails, draft and bottled beer, and a full liquor lineup. Value-driven options keep prices accessible, including daily Happy Hour (Monday–Sunday, 5–8 PM; all day Tuesday) and Late Night Happy Hour (Monday–Sunday, 11 PM–1 AM; all day Tuesday), both offering $6 food and drink specials. Guests can also enjoy Game Day deals during all Padres home games and NFL games, with beer and seltzer buckets under $30, $6 well mixed drinks, and $8 signature cocktails.
“People have been begging us to come to California for years, and San Diego was the perfect place for us to bring the party,” says Alex Monahan, CEO of Fat Tuesday. “This spot takes everything people love about the brand and takes it to a new level. It’s our biggest, boldest location yet, and we think it’s going to be a fan favorite.”
Fat Tuesday debuted its first two larger format flagships in late 2024 and early 2025, one in Tampa’s historic Ybor City and another in downtown Fort Lauderdale, showcasing how the all-day, full-service model has been a success with communities in those markets. San Diego becomes the third in Fat Tuesday’s new wave of experience-led flagships, part of a national expansion that’s turning heads and driving viral moments.
Born in New Orleans in 1984, Fat Tuesday has grown to become the largest alcohol business in the U.S., specializing in frozen cocktails. With 54 company-owned locations and 22 franchised locations, Fat Tuesday is a prominent fixture in warm climates, tourist spots, and entertainment districts. Celebrating 40 years of innovation and service, Fat Tuesday continues to expand with plans to surpass 100 locations in the coming years.
