Iron Cactus Mexican Grill & Margarita Bar held its 20th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on June 1st at Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin and raised more than $40,000 for its charity partner, Staurolite Foundation, a nonprofit organization that brings together wounded veterans and active duty service members to participate in a Mountain Top Safari and Elk Hunt in Angel Fire, New Mexico.
The Mountain Top Safari and Elk Hunt is a special week-long retreat that brings wounded heroes together so they may find support in each other’s experiences and heal from their injuries. Held in spring and early winter, the elk hunts were established as a way for injured veterans and active duty military men and women to form new friendships with others who have gone through similar experiences.
“Since we started our annual charity golf tournament 20 years ago, we’ve been able to raise almost $500,000 for various charities and individuals in need of financial assistance,” said Gary Manley, General Partner at Iron Cactus. “We are thankful to all our sponsors, vendors and participants for making this charity golf tournament another successful event that will assist Staurolite Foundation’s unique healing program for our injured veterans and soldiers.”
“We are grateful to Iron Cactus for selecting us as their beneficiary this year at their annual charity golf tournament,” said Mike Smith, Founder and Executive Director of Staurolite Foundation. “Their financial contribution will go a long way in helping us build the Mountain Top Safari and Elk Hunt program for our wounded heroes.”
