60 year old Non Profit and Restaurant Brand Partner to Send Kids to MDA Summer Camp
Jimboy’s Tacos, the fast-casual American-style Mexican food restaurant chain announced today they raised over $11,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) during their annual fundraiser over the holidays. The monies will benefit children with muscle disease and send them to MDA camp over the summer.
Each year, Jimboy’s Tacos teams up with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for a fundraiser during the holidays by selling mobiles from each of their 40 restaurants, for $1 or $5 each. Jimboy’s Tacos have donated nearly $30,000 over the past three years to send kids to MDA’s summer camp.
“It’s heartwarming to know our Jimboy’s Tacos guests’ donations send kids to MDA summer camp,” said Karen Knudson-Freeman, President and CEO of Jimboy’s Tacos, as well as the founder’s daughter. “We appreciate our guests, as these kids look forward to summer camp year-round, making raising funds so meaningful.”
For 60 years, thousands of children and teens living with neuromuscular diseases have attended MDA summer camp. There, each has found a safe, nurturing world created specifically for them and filled with opportunities to explore awesome adventures, new experiences, lifelong friendships and endless fun. MDA’s summer camp program provides thousands of kids with muscle disease a life-changing experience at one of 80 week-long summer camps.
“MDA couldn’t have picked a better long time partner than Jimboy’s Tacos,” said Heather Cianciolo, Director of Business Development, Muscular Dystrophy Association. “We are so thankful Jimboy’s Tacos has been raising funds for the MDA and seeing the kids faces that get to go to summer camp because of it, makes such an impact,” said Cianciolo.
Jimboy’s Tacos is a family run fresh casual restaurant chain founded by Jim Knudson in Northern California 62 years ago. In 1969, Jim began franchising and the Jimboy’s Tacos phenomenon grew from a small trailer on the shores of Lake Tahoe’s Kings Beach, into more than 40 locations in California, Nevada and Texas. Since its humble beginnings, Jimboy’s Tacos has maintained its philosophy and commitment for fresh, quality American-style Mexican food, and today is still a hallmark of the brand.
Jimboy’s Tacos had humble beginnings, debuting in a small trailer on Kings Beach in Tahoe, California in 1954. Started by Jim “Jimboy” Knudson, it began with Jim’s recipe for his signature taco, packed with the perfect balance of flavors and textures, all encased in his famous crispy, Parmesan dusted stone ground corn tortilla. The Original Taco with premium 100% pure ground beef is still a best seller with other popular menu items such as burritos, nachos, quesadillas, taco salads, churros, and more, rounding out the fresh and affordable menu.
From the very beginning, Jimboy’s Tacos focused on a commitment to freshness and quality, using only fresh, premium local ingredients, preparing food from scratch daily, and cooking in small batches to ensure freshness. They were ahead of their time and today that commitment to quality and freshness is a hallmark of the brand. Besides being a pioneer with Tacos, Jimboy’s Tacos was so popular, they were one of the first restaurant brands to begin franchising in 1969. Today the sought-after brand with more than 40 locations in California, Nevada and Texas, is growing through franchise opportunities. For more information please visit: www.jimboystacos.com
