Newk’s Eatery, a fresh casual restaurant concept that opened its first store in Nacogdoches on Oct. 7, celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday, Nov. 6. As complimentary wine and beer was served to guests on the patio, the franchisee presented a check for a percentage of the restaurant’s opening day’s sales to H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Eat), an area nonprofit which provides food to persons who are disabled and those who receive Medicare or Medicaid.
“It feels good to be able to give back to the community that has so warmly welcomed us since our opening last month,” said Cassandra Stokes, Newk’s Nacogdoches franchise restaurant owner.
Newk’s Nacogdoches anchors the newly-developed North Village Market located at 3601 North St. and is the first business to open in the retail complex.
