Newk's Eatery Enriches Louisiana Presence With Expansion in the Capital CityNewk’s Eatery, a rapidly growing fast-casual restaurant brand known for its flavorful food experiences, is strengthening its Louisiana presence with the opening of two new locations in the Capital City. Positioned on Corporate Boulevard, the first restaurant will hold its grand opening on March 23 with the second location opening in the Northgate community in mid-May. The fast-casual brand also has plans to open a third Baton Rouge location in Perkins Rowe this summer. By the end of 2015, Newk’s expects to expand its footprint in the state by five company and franchise-owned restaurants, bringing the brand’s total number of Louisiana-based locations to nine.

“The Newk’s openings in Baton Rouge are an important part of our plan to increase density within the Southeast while expanding into the lower Midwest, along the Gulf Coast and up the East Coast,” said Chris Newcomb, founder and CEO of Jackson, Miss.-based Newk’s Eatery. “Louisiana’s rich Cajun roots speak to Newk’s ongoing growth plans and our culinary-driven menu. Bringing along with us several Cajun-inspired entrées, such as the Shrimp Po’boy, Spicy Shrimp Pizza and Shrimp Remoulade Salad, Newk’s is primed to move deeper into the bayou.”

Located on 7211 Corporate Boulevard in Towne Center at Cedar Lodge, the first Baton Rouge restaurant to open will offer indoor dining for 150 guests and patio dining for nearly 50 more in its roughly 5,000 square-foot restaurant space. In May, the Northgate location adjacent to the Louisiana State University campus will open its doors at 3332 Lake Street in the former Mr. Gatti’s building. The restaurants will provide job opportunities for close to 100 applicants within the area.

At Newk’s, there is something for everyone to enjoy from the restaurant’s diverse menu of fresh tossed salads, artisan pizzas, hot toasted sandwiches and made-from-scratch soups and desserts.  Newk’s signature menu items are meticulously handcrafted with rigorously selected fresh ingredients in an open kitchen and served tableside in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The fast casual restaurant delivers lunch to the table or to the office with its robust catering service and offers guests flavorful meals on the go with its convenient Grab N’ Go as well as online ordering options.

The Jackson, Miss.-based Newk’s Eatery currently has nearly 80 locations in 13 states and plans to expand to more than 200 units by 2018. Newk’s is featured on Technomic’s list of top 50 fast casual chains nationwide.
