Newk’s Eatery, a fresh casual restaurant concept known among its loyal following for its culinary-inspired menu with an emphasis on freshness and flavor, announced today the Nacogdoches, Texas restaurant will open on Monday, October 7. The franchise restaurant, owned by Nacogdoches restaurateur Cassandra Stokes, will anchor the newly-developed North Village Market located at 3601 North St. and is the first business to open in the retail complex.
The fresh casual, upscale Newk’s Eatery offers a variety of quality, craveable menu options from the franchise’s open-view kitchens, including fresh-tossed salads, oven-baked sandwiches, California-style pizzas, made-from-scratch soups and homemade cakes. The culinary-driven dining concept features exceptional ingredient combinations like salads with chicken, cranberries, pecans, artichoke hearts and gorgonzola cheese on a bed of spring greens, for mouth-wateringly distinct flavors.
With two popular Newk’s locations in east Texas, one in Longview and another in nearby Tyler, Stokes is finding that while the restaurant concept is new to Nacogdoches, it has already earned a place at the top of the list of dine-out locations for locals who have enjoyed Newk’s in other locations. Buzz about the restaurant has begun on its Facebook page, which already has more than 700 “likes,” and Stokes said she is building a staff of people who are passionate about the brand, its food and its focus on guest experience. This includes the restaurant’s general manager, Jessica Drahem, who is a long-time Nacogdoches resident and was selected to head the culinary team, in part, because of her passion for delivering outstanding hospitality and great-tasting food.
“Nacogdoches is a dine-out kind of town, and Newk’s Eatery fills our need for more choices for freshly prepared, flavorful food and the relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere,” said Stokes. “We are looking forward to inviting people to gather around our tables with family and friends in the coming weeks.”
Newk’s offers a separate catering menu and original products that keep customers coming back. Newk’s Roundtable Club members get special offers to reward them for repeat visits. The club is named after the table featured in the center of every location that offers various complimentary spices, toppings and add-ons, allowing diners to customize their menu items. Another original Newk’s concept is Grab-n-Go, which gives busy guests the option to drop in and quickly pick out a favorite menu item from the select offerings in the open, stand-up refrigerator case at the back of the restaurant. In the Nacogdoches store, Grab-n-Go has its own separate entrance for fast in-and-out service when patrons desire an on-the-go lunch or take-out dinner.
Newk’s is the second restaurant for Stokes, a seasoned restaurant and hospitality manager who opened another Nacogdoches area restaurant six years ago. When Stokes first visited the Longview Newk’s nearly two years ago, she said she “fell in love” with the uniqueness of the menu, the freshness of the food and the casual, home-like dining room, and immediately began researching options to bring the restaurant to her hometown.
Prior to the official ribbon-cutting in Nacogdoches, Stokes and her staff will host a private VIP event, the proceeds of which benefit Nacogdoches H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Eat), an area nonprofit which provides food to persons who are disabled and those who receive Medicare or Medicaid.
