Upscale casual restaurant offers flavorful food, freshly prepared in open-view kitchen
Newk’s Eatery, a fresh casual restaurant concept known among its loyal following for its culinary-inspired menu with an emphasis on freshness and flavor, announced today the first Newk’s Eatery in Montgomery, Ala. will open on Thursday, Oct. 31. The restaurant is located in the Shoppes at Cornerstone development anchored by Publix at 7880 Vaughn Road in East Montgomery.
The fresh casual, upscale Newk’s Eatery offers a variety of quality, craveable menu options from the franchise’s open-view kitchens, including fresh-tossed salads, oven-baked sandwiches, California-style pizzas, made-from-scratch soups and homemade cakes. The culinary-driven dining concept features exceptional ingredient combinations like salads with chicken, cranberries, pecans, artichoke hearts and gorgonzola cheese on a bed of spring greens, for mouth-wateringly distinct flavors.
Beyond homemade delectables made from unique, fresh ingredients, Newk’s offers a separate catering menu and original products that keep customers coming back. Newk’s Roundtable Club members get special offers to reward them for their repeat visits. The club is named after the table featured in the center of every location that offers various complimentary spices, toppings and add-ons, allowing diners to customize their menu items. Another original Newk’s concept is Grab-n-Go, which gives busy guests the option to drop in, quickly pick out a favorite menu item from the select offerings in the open, stand-up refrigerator case at the front of the restaurant for an on-the-go lunch or take-out dinner.
Behind the newly-constructed Montgomery store is franchise company JMH Dining, which consists of veteran Collins family restaurateurs: father Jan and sons Matt and Hays. The three have signed on to open five more Newk’s locations in the region, including restaurants in Opelika, Ala. and Columbus, Ga.
“We are excited to offer this unique restaurant concept in Montgomery and look forward to bringing even more Newk’s restaurants to the region,” said Matt, who is heading up the Newk’s Montgomery operation.
Based out of Jackson, Miss., where Newk’s is headquartered, the Collins family has been frequenting Newk’s for years. With restaurant roots extending from the 1970s, when Jan’s father brought the first Wendy’s to Mississippi, the Collins’ extensive experience in the food industry gave them an appreciation for Newk’s original restaurant concept and menu variety.
“The restaurant business is all I’ve ever known, as I’ve been around it my whole life, but Newk’s brings a different type of dining experience and a lot of variety to diners,” said Matt. “It’s the complete package, including excellent quality, freshly-prepared menu offerings that range from comfort to health-conscious food in an upscale casual environment with prompt service. The eatery fills a void in the restaurant industry and allows hungry patrons to fit a solid meal into their day however and whenever it works for them.”
As Hays heads up the family’s existing restaurant operations, Matt and his wife Amberly will take the lead on Newk’s, while Jan oversees the company’s growing restaurant business. Matt and Amberly, who realize the importance of giving back to the community, are excited about their family being a part of Montgomery, where they have bought a home. As their first community-outreach initiative, they have signed on to be a sponsor of the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program in partnership with WSFA 12 News.
